| Greg.... That akuma got a pretty good review from webbikeworld but it seems pretty hard to find places that sell 'em. I like that design but their site lists some other helmets but I can only find that and the dragon one. Nice thing is you can get the visor w/ the transition lens for those helmets. and i think it has a map light and a red light on the back of the helmet. its pretty damn cool. and I love the huge selection on graphics for the KBC helmets.

| ... ![]() | yup, webbikeworld is where i learned about akuma, kbc, the snell/dot tests, etc. i even started wearing earplugs since ALL of their reviews make a big point about that - and now i'm never gonna ride without plugs (it's a HUGE difference). ya, when i called them [akuma], they said that right now they have NO places in canada to buy from, but they'd be perfectly happy to sell direct with a fairly reasonable shipping charge. i only saw 4 designs on their page, and like that one the most. they gotta get a better photographer, though, cuz ALL the pics are dark (underexposed) against a dark background. pretty hard to clearly see the nice designs. the visor is pretty trick, but i'm not sure how i'd like it. would be pricey to replace if it ever got scratched up or something, but it IS pretty funky! |

| hmmm...weight has never been a factor for me when choosing a helmet. I think my jacket helps a bit since the collar comes up to meet the bottom of the back of my helmet (dunno if its supposed to or I just slouch alot when I ride). Which is nice on those windy highway rides cuz I don't have to force my head forwards.

| ... ![]() | why matte black? ok, it might look kinda nice at first, but it SUCKS the worst for visibility and scuff will show up VERY quickly as shiny spots. have you tried both helmets on? one is likely to fit better, sit better, and give you better visibility. keep in mind your posture on the bike - for me and a sportbike, i found some helmets had poor visibility through the top part of the visor which is what i look through as i am leaned over. on a cruiser, you might want / need lots of visibility through the lower portion around the chin so that you can see the road surface, your instruments, etc. |

Weight aside, the venting is much better too ... Shoei's visor system is also a bonus. You can change out visors in seconds. | |

| AGV TiTech I have owned AGV for 20+ years, they always fit my head perfect and the provide great protection, light weight and zero wind noise. ![]() Toolboy |

| In Training ![]() | Here are my helmets. HJC Sy-Max for me Flip up shield is great for wearing specs and talking at red lights on group rides. Draw back is more noise and potential to pop open on impact. My Wife when she rides wears the other HJC Full Face No Flip. This is quieter and definitely safer but is a pain in the ass if you wear glasses The choice is yours. I wear my helmet 99% of the time. a short ride within my development(very quiet with LOW traffic) is occasionally helmet free. any group ride on public roads get the full treatment from Boots (HD) Icon Holligan Pants(sharp looking) and Joe Rocket vented jacket (phoenix 4.0) with armor. | ... ![]() | well, the visibility is something you could "ignore", but i'd personally get quite miffed if my all-matte helmet ended up with a few shiny spots on it from scuffs and whatnot. that'd be like peeling decals from a normal helmet - rather irritating and not much you could do about it. a guy i used to autocross (car race) with painted his VW Golf flat black. it used to be metallic forest green. i'm not sure if he even used any primer at all, or if the flat black IS primer, but the whole car is now flat black. with the odd shiny scuff. looks kinda funky, though! |

| Well not too many scuffs on mine except for a little one. I went to open the garage door with my helmet still on and dropped the key, I bent over to pick it up and bumped my head on the door. Doh! I try not to get too fussy over my gear or my bike because even though as much as I would like to, I know I can't keep it looking brand new forever. Don't get me wrong, I take care of them but you would probably drive yourself nuts if you constantly worry about scuffs and scratches.

i assume you didn't catch that i'm referring to visibility OF the helmet, not view from WITHIN the helmet.
