Hi All, Last September I fitted a set of Jardine slashcuts. I was only happy with the way they looked on the bike, I thought the standard pipes looked too big. They were way too loud when on the throttle and I was dissapointed with the way they affected the performance. I have a PC3 fitted along with a C50 aircleaner assembly C/W K & N filter, A custom map was done and the bike was plenty fast enough. After the Jardines, low end power was very poor, the bike didnt like low revs and i seemed to need a lower gear for a given speed than before. Full throttle seemed unaffected. I decided to modify the pipes and have fitted a balance pipe between the front pipes as can be seen in the photo, this equalises the pressure in the exhaust and aids scavenging of the cylinders, it also helps when the frontpipes are of different length, giving perfomance similar to a 2/1 system. I also modified the baffles by adding Highway hawk 4 inch universal baffles and a stainless mesh baffle, finishing off by wrapping the baffles with a high quality quilted material found on ebay.I only have to fit some polished stainles around the balance pipe to tidy it up. Now the sound is perfect and the difference in performance is unbelievable. Its now the smooth healthy push from very low rpm, it even goes as low as 20mph in 5th and when the throttle is opened just pull smooth no problem. I would recomend anyone with 2 /1 aftermarket pipes gets a balance pipe fitted, you wont regret it at all. |
