Default M50 and wet pavement

Since this season will be my 2nd year as a rider, and I got my M at the end of last season, I haven't really had any experience riding on wet pavement. My friends tell me that it's really no different as long as you're leaving yourself a little more room and not doing anything out of the ordinary. Is this true??? Also, in the event that the tires lose traction in a turn, would the bike be instantly down, or do the tires maybe slip a few inches and regain traction like a car does when it slips? I never ride in the rain and my bike hasn't even been wet but in the case where I am caught in the rain I would like to know what to expect. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I want to hear directly from M50 owners on this. Thanks.
