Hey! My wife needs a break too. How does your wife like that Saddlemen Explorer Gel Seat? My wife is using a gel pad over the stock seat which is better, but ugly. I like the look of that seat you got. What is HER honest evaluation of the passenger seat part? Significantly better?

I didn't see the M50 on the Explorer application/price list. Which one did you get?

Thanks for the info in advance.

I do not know if anyone has stated it here in this thread or not, but if you do a search for meancitycycles, you will find a post by PetCop.

She had her M50 seat modified by these guys, back in February of this year (07), and loved it.

There prices are a whole lit less expensive that new seats, and sounds like they actually fix the problems. Check them out, and see what you think.

Actually my profile pic was taken before the Saddlemen was installed. However, my wife absolutely loves the new seat. She used to go about a 1/2 hour on the stock seat before she started to complain, but now we can ride for hours and she's perfectly content. The Explorer passenger seat gets wider towards the back, which makes sense. The stock pillion, as I'm sure you know, gets narrower and looks so uncomfortable (I've never ridden as a passenger on my '50, but I've sure heard the complaints!) I ordered it from Dennis Kirk, if you do a product search by bike model the right seat should show up. The DK part number is 453845. As I stated in an earlier post, the rider seat was more slightly comfortable than stock, and it gets better as it breaks in. The Explorer took 5 minutes to install. There is a bracket (included) that you have to bolt to the bottom of the seat prior to installation - I found that the excess seat cover material on the bottom of the seat kinda blocked the bracket, but can be easily trimmed. One would think that Saddlemen would have taken care of that, but oh well.

Here are the Saddlemen Explorer pics. Note that the stock pillion is shown in the last photo for a side by side comparison. Please excuse the messy garage - I'm in the process of tiling my kitchen floor and everything is in disarray!
