Thanks for the welcome backk, lol. I haven't been around here in months, probably at least 8 months or so. It's been raining over here on the Oregon coast non stop so I was about ready to trade my bike in on a 4 wheeler so I could go to the dunes. Then the rain stopped last weekend and I got out and rode my bike all day on saturday and sunday so now there is no way I can get rid of it, lol. Now I'm back wanting to mod it and ride the hell out of it. So whats been happening the last half a year? Anything new?

Nothing new around here. Just the same movie with a different cast of characters!

Just a quick update. I decided to go with the Corbin Dual Tour from Oneida. I was going to go with the Saddlemen to save a few bucks so I had money for other mods, but then every place said they didn't have the Saddlemen's in stock. They all said they'd get it soon, but didn't know exactly when. The weather's finally improving and I'm impatient, so I figured I'd spend the extra money and get the Corbin. From what I've heard from everyone I should end up being very satisfied. Well tomorrow is the first day of spring and hopefully the foot of snow we got this past weekend will start to melt so I can get out there and try the seat out.

All the corbin seats are way more comfortable than the stock seat is. The dual tour is especially nice with the passenger.

Wouldn't you know, the snow finally melts and now I get the flu! I've been in bed for the past few days recovering. I got out though for a quick gas up the other night. My initial impressions are good. The seat is definitely much firmer than the stock. I find too, that it puts me in a different position than the stock seat did. I think I was sitting too far back on the stock, but because the corbin's back raises up Im forced to sit more forward. I've only got about 60 miles on the seat, but so far so good. In the next couple of weeks, as long as the weather stays, I'll be going for longer rides. I'll make sure to post another update after I've spent some time in on the seat. Though, first impression, I'm glad I got rid of the stock!

Instead of that fluffy stuff, I used a tempurpedic pillow material under the seat of my sv and it is great!

The Corbin IS firmer- it's apparently one of the reasons it is so comfortable- it's more supportive, and to me it's more of a 'sit IN the seat, not ON the seat' situation....you may find it feels a bit lower than stock too (the Classic Solo is quite similar to the Dual Tour, only the back doesn't raise as high). I have about 1000 miles on mine- it's not even really broken in yet! But it is SOOO much better than stock to me.

That's funny, because I just recently bought a Corbin seat for my 919 and I feel like I'm more "on top of" the bike and I sit a little further back. It makes the bike feel way less sporty, and it looks out of place on it. I can see how it would be great on the M50, but I'm not at all sold on it for the 919. The worst part is that the front kinda humps up in front of the tank resulting in tip toeing at stop lights and sore personal parts after awhile.

I do like the new position the seat puts me into. VHMike is correct, you actually sit in the seat instead of on top of the seat. Taking off from lights you don't feel like your going to end up on the passenger seat.It feels much more like a seat than just a platform to sit on which is what the stock felt like to me.

I just spend 3 days on the bike ,riding the snowy moutains and the seat was good ,not great but no trouble at all ,the tank need to be filled by the time my bum even started to even begin to feel any discumfort.

Don't forget 'Sargents' they are somewhere on the east coast I believe but they'll refoam, reshape etc. your stock seat at avery resonable price. I bought a used bike a few years ago with a sargents seat on it and it was great.

Interesting to hear that Hooligan, although I have NO experience of any kind with Corbin's offerings for Sportbikes. Everyone I know with that style ride has the stock seat on it (a couple GSXR750s, a Honda CBR600, Yamaha FZ6, and a pair of Kawi Ninja 500s owners).

Hopefully your Corbin cost a ton less than mine (Classic Solo and Touring Pillion combination ran me about $800 direct from Corbin last summer!)...

As for the M50 seat, I hated the stock seat- HATED IT!! However, a buddy has a blue M50 (both of us have '05s), and his bike is entirely stock. He's never had a complaint about the seat at all. However, I'm about 3 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier than he is, so perhaps that's the difference (and my height is in my legs- he's comfortable with the stock seat and peg locations). It doesn't appear that there's much of a pattern to who likes/hates the stock seat...only that there is not much middle ground!

I thought that now that I've had some time in the seat I'd submit a little update. I'll start with my biggest complaint, the seat is too narrow! I'm a big guy, about 6' 320 lbs. I have a big ass, the Corbin is a skinny seat. It is a little narrower than the stock, but even with that being my biggest complaint its not too big of a deal. As for the comfort, overall I'm very happy, and so is my passenger. My girlfriend has ridden a bunch of times with me now, and even she says that each time she gets on the seat it is more comfortable than last time, and is a big improvement over the stock. I still get some fatigue and soreness after riding awhile, but part of that is just not enough time in the saddle for my body to adjust. If you want complete comfort in the seat, then your best bet is to buy an actual touring bike and get a driver backrest. if you love the M and don't want to change, then I would strongly recommend the Corbin dual tour. Each time I get on the bike to ride I smile because it is so much more comfortable than the stock ever was. Even on longer rides (over 1 hr.) I have much less discomfort than I did with the stock. The seat stays firmer longer, which is what you want in a long ride. It does look a little bulky on the bike, but I've actually received compliments on how it looks with the bike. Overall, now that the seat is broken in, it is a big improvement over the stock seat and, to me, worth every penny I spent. Don't get me wrong, it is not a cure all for all of your aches like some people expect it to be. But you will enjoy your ride much more and for a longer period of time if you go with the Corbin over the stock. The last little thing to know, is the seat is made out of leather, not synthetic, so you just have to be careful to cover it if it may get exposed to bad weather.

Mustang rep at Americade said the M50 seat is due out soon.

Personally, stock seat is fine for me. I never have a problem even after several hours.

I purchased the Saddlemen Explorer for the sole purpose of providing my wife with a more comfortable perch than the stock pillion. The rider seat is somewhat more comfortable, but I don't think the gel does all that much. Of course, my rear end is rather bony, so there's not much between me and the seat anyways!
