Default trying to get some ideas.....

If you guys had a stocked M50 and had $700 to spend on the bike, what are the additions you would make on the bike? Just looking for some ideas since I am new to riding and owning a bike. Thanks for the input and help in advance.

My 1st choice would be proper riding apparel for the rider.

After that it's all up to you.

Just depends on what you want. I would go for some pipes and removable saddle bags and a sissy bar.
Are you wanting to customize as in paint and bodywork or just aftermarket parts?

As stated, it depends on what you want from your ride.
Are you into long trips? Maybe a windshield and highway pegs, ans something for the seat.
Are you wanting more HP performance? Aftermarket FI controller and pipes, and maybe improve airflow.
Are you wanting cool looks for around town cruising? Custom paint and a little chrome bling or powder coating depending on your tastes.
There's tons of options once you decide what you want from the M50.

Default add on's

hmmm... 700$. If you add pipes, then you'll prob. have to add a power commander. Pricey! but around 700 for the pair. I love to customize by mis matching parts from other bikes that i like ( fenders, lights, etc), cheap mods if you find them used on ebay and in the same color.

When you start on Bling, there is no end.

Check thru the threads for what others have done, make a list of those you like and put them in order of want or need and then ask around for the best prices to stretch your $700 out.
Eric at Suzuki Extreme has good prices as does E-bay.
If you check back about June\July of 05 in the threads, you will find Zukidude.
He was so into to Bling that it became known as Zukidudeitest if you were hooked on Bling.
He had an 05 Black M50.

It depends on what kind of riding you are going to do. I am on a pretty limited budget myself at the moment so I went for sensible things like bags, back rest and rear rack, I would like to get a windshield soon as well.I didn't originally want bags or windshield but after a season of riding changed my mind. I did treat myself to a good pair of riding boots and leather jacket and purely for looks Kuryakin gel grips.
If you are after performance you could get a FI module , air kit and pipes. I think I would go for the air kit and FI Module first and then the pipes. JMHO

Does Eric give better prices than the Extreme web site quotes ?

I emailed Eric at the address on volusiariders.com website, he came back with a good price. I got a mustang seat landed a lot less than listed price and a lot lower than my Canadian quotes.
I told Eric I was a member of this site and volusiariders and he stated that the best price is 20% above cost. In the busy season he does not have time to keep up the ebay site.

Also in busy season he can't keep up with email, it is best to phone him.

I had tried bidding on a used one out of Toronto, but the price ended up higher than the new one I bought.

Desi,

Take some time and check out photos of other M50s. You're bound to see things that you would like to add to your bike. I started with a Memphis Shades PopTop windshield (relieves the arms from the G-Force of the powerful "M"), Kuriyakin grips (makes riding easier on the hands) and mirrors. Just ordered a driver's backrest and a Lindby highway bar today for additional comfort. In six months I'll add the pipes and saddlebags. A new rider myself, found it best to start small because the more you ride your bike, you will start to realize what it is you will really need to enjoy the ride versus what you want on the ride.
First, get proper riding gear. Next, add what makes your ride more comfortable for you. And finally, add the things you want to enhance the bike.
My opinion only.

lowering kit, forward controls, new bars, debadge, debaffle, chop the nasty plate holder link on how is here somewhere, lots of bling. Anything left spend on the woman to make her feel like she is important again since youve been spending all you time with the other woman. This is assuming you are a dude. If not just buy more bling

Personally,

If you have jeans/camos, boots, a shirt, and a good leather jacket for the winter, then you have your riding apperal. If you like the sports bike look, then of course you may be obligated to spend tons of money on those types of jackets, pants and boots. Though I have always found that it looks rather silly on a cruiser.

$700.

Well, first I would go over what I couldn't or don't want to make for it. Then decide if its worth buying. I would do the pipes first. That can eithe use about half your money or all of it. You do not need a FI unit to change your pipes.

Thats me.

There once was a member with wonderful engineering skills and millions of hours of free time who not only did amazing things with his motorcycle, he was good enough to document what he did.

Alas, we may never see the like of Zuki-Dude again.

I did ZD's rear end cleanup as mentioned by kbsnow.

I'd take myself and the bike to the nearest stripper club...but I like my bike being stock.
