Default why the M50 seat is so bad!

First off - apologies to rencrn8 This is nothing to do with your build, but one of your photos highlighted the problem, so I will use it to illustrate this post.

The M50 seat is too short.

Have a look at this image, and you can see it is too small for the ave bloke.

Most of our photos are taken when we are off the bike.

It was bleedingly obvious when I looked at this photo.

It is really obvious here. Anybody come across a good replacement yet?
I'm talking a true SOLO seat, not the kind with the faux stretched out pillion behind it, that's not useable by a passenger even if you wanted. I'm looking for a single seat replacement.

Is the back end of that bike lowered a bit? I've noticed that a few people that have had issues with the seat have lowered their bikes. I haven't had issues with mine (4 hour ride was my longest, though...), but I also haven't lowered it or anything.
After lowering the bike, it looks like you're sitting at quite a bit of a different angle than you are without it lowered. It's going to press on your tailbone a bit differently than with the factory setting.
These are just my two cents.

I have altered the shape of the underlying foam (to make it flatter), added an extra 3/4 of high compression foam, and made a butt buffer from sheepskin.

Sunday I start my 4 day trip (3500km) so will report back when this is finished over - with a report and pics.

I think it's how you're sitting on the seat. The stock seat doesn't push you up and give you the feel of sitting "in" the seat but rather "on" the seat. VTX owners have this problem too.

Custom seats have that bucket style where it keeps your tailbone away from the hard back end.

No really big problems with the seat but understand how it can become uncomfortable in long rides. I'm going to do this mod come spring.
VTXOA / VTXRiders.com :: View topic - seat mod pictures

I hope I don't fudge it up, but I guess that would be a good reason to get myself a new seat.

Hey thanks for pointing me over to Oneida's site. Although I got to say on first glance i don't care for the button tab looking thing on top or the cross seam across the middle of it. I'll check out Corbin's site to see if I can get a better look at it.

I remember those banana seats as well, on my old Schwinn stingray. With those seats you could ride sitdown wheelies for about as far as there was road. But thankfully they also came with no flowers LOL

Don.....I had the 3-speed (yellow) stingray myself. It had the thinner tires, and a racing slick in the back.

I rode that thing to its death, having the frame snap in half (after a wicked jump).

Even though I welded her together again, she just wasn't the same.

The thought of an eleven year old trying to weld a frame back together just makes me laugh. How poor them welds would be!!!

I believe bad welds are called Pigeon Sh*t or something of the sort right? I can see the bad welds around the bike. It sagging in the middle. Welds just awful. I picture this little kid standing in a photo with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, in a white t-shirt, welders mask (up of course), and an acetylene torch in the hand (for effect). The caption..."I'll gitter dun!"
