Default My M109R Test Ride

I was at the dealer picking up my M50 after her 15,000 mile service, er, make that 16,000 miles. And I was just talking to the sales manager about the M109 and after a couple of minutes he says 'You wanna take one for a test ride' I rode about 20 miles on a mix of interstate and backroads and all I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! This bike is a beast. I did a couple of 0 to 60 runs and I thought I was gonna come off the back of it. It is an absolute tourque monster. I got it up to 90 on the interstate, rolling on from 60 in 5th and it took about 2 seconds, if that! I love it and I must have it. Unfortunately, it will take a while to make it happen because of my lovely wife's insistance on the fact that if I get it, then she get's a new Mustang. We just paid off the car and the bike and I don't want any more payments for a while. Oh well. I would change a couple of things on it right away. I have gotten used to my Beach bars and the easy reach. The 109 makes me reach too far forward, way more even than the M50's stock bars. The shifter and brake pedal are also real close to the pegs - not much room to stretch out. I want it! I want it! I want it! I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just give it a week or 2 and that wanting feeling will wear off... You're probably better off without a payment.

Hey geoffsimpson, Here is a link to a thread with pics of a custom M that has C50 bars like mine:

http://www.motorcycle-journal.com/fo...cs-inside.html

I'll post some of mine after the camera battery charges back up later today.

JustinOhio, reality is starting to set in and I know I will have to wait a good long while to get a 109. I really like being almost debt free except for the mortgage.
Thanks

I was @ Ricky Hendrick's Performance Suzuki in Pineville. I rode up the 485 to Rea Rd. to Audrey Kell and looped back over to Johnston St. and then back up Polk St. into Pineville. It was Cool!! Way more bike than I need, but I will get one down the road.

Sorry...but you're wrong.

I test rode one last summer...and I still want it.

I'm gonna get a few bills paid off...and hopefully pay cash for a used one however. Which brings me to another point, OP, if you buy a used one, can't you also then just buy the wife a used Mustang instead of a new one? You could both get what you want...but a little cheaper.

Oh...and you can buy riser extensions for the bars.

I still want one, and like you I will wait and buy a used one. I like the idea of the used Mustang also

I'd like the 109 if it didn't have so much of a "body kit" to it. Loose the headlight, loose all the plastic around the radiator area and a different rear fender and it would be nice.

What ever happened to that custom M50 build. I don't recall seeing any updates for it. Anyone know?

The boards, the ape hangers, and the large rear fender kind of take away the performance concept of the m109r, but still a very nice bike.

The small fairing on the front of the m109r just gives it a unique mean fast look IMO. It also has a purpose in concealing the electronic rev meter. Besides, who gives a *bleep* if there is plastic where plastic is expected, it gives our metal detecting friends something to tap on and criticize...
