Question Tire wall cleaner...

How do you guys clean/shine your tire walls? I am hesitant on using auto-tire cleaner, thinking it may effect handling. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Soap and water here as well. Armor all and such as that makes your tires slick as all get out. Make you fall down go ouch!!!!

+1

I have to agree here...on your bike, you really don't wanna go for that shiny new look some folks do with their car tires. Slippery or coated tires aren't cool.

Don't do it...just give 'em a good scrub...you'll drop it like it's hot if you put that stuff on 'em

This reminded me of my younger days, and I thought it would be a good idea to armor all my seat

LOL...I knew a kid that actually slid out of his seat...and landed on the road once, from having a too slippery seat...and a broken car door.

Ok, I'm going to be the one guy that differs. I would never put anything greasy or oil based on my bike tires or seat. I did the seat on my first motorcycle when I was a newbie rider and I slid all over the place.

As for my tires, I scrub then down when washing the bike with soap and water. However, after they dry I use an armour all degreaser wipe. They are orange wipes (maybe come in other scents, not sure) but they are intended to lift dirt and oils in a cleaning manner, not to shine. They do not leave a glossy look or any other residue, but they really do clean the tires. I only use them on sidewalls. It really looks great and the rubber stays dry, not slick.

Sounds Ok but the sidewalls on my bike are so small it's useless anyway . Probably work great for a cruiser !

The problem with some of that stuff is that it removes the natural oils in the rubber (the brownish stuff). That can lead to premature dry rot and cracking in tires that don't get changed very often.

I just wash mine.
