Default Ugly side of M50?

So the more I ride, the more I love my M50. There is just one thing that gnaws at me: the left side of the bike is just so freakin' ugly compared to the right side of the bike!

I think it may due to the fact that is absolutely void of chrome or color (previous owner debadged it)... it's just a black abyss. I find myself showing people my bike on the the "good side" and trying to do what I can to keep my best side "forward".

Anyone else feel the same way?

True...

but I love the way the M50 looks on the good side! Enough to make me choose it versus something else.

That's why I have the gremlin bell on the left side (on the helmet lock.) It causes your eye to run from the front of the bike strait to the bell. Since I have all badges shaved, it flows like water.

Default Black is beautiful baby

I used to think the same thing.... I could'nt decide what I thought of the black side. Then I realized it looked cool because it was so unique, so distinctive. People look at it and not in a negative way... Everybody tells me "cool lookin bike" and that means both sides.

BTW: My bike's name: Cleopatra Jones!

Has anyone ever converted it to have one exhaust pipe on each side?

Plenty of chrome after market pieces out there to add a little flash[like the neck cover and shaft drive cover etc.]

Have you thought about carrying a big mirror with you?

I also put a gremlin bell on the left side, and added a "Tail of the Dragon" sticker. Seems to draw the eyes away from the abyss.

I'm the opposite... I like the left side better, all black with no chrome. (removed the PAIR valve)

I noticed a lot of cruisers are that way, left side void of looks but side with air filter seems to have most of chrome and such.

I'm the same way, I like the simple clean side and the other side with all the bling. You get the best of both on one bike.

I had to look up gremlin balls myself, a quick search on google or these forums will show you that it's a cast iron bell that hangs off your bike to "keep the evil road spirits at bay." It's got some cool history behind it, now I just need someone who will give me one!

jackM50black: that's a sweet name... I'm now inspired to think of something along the same lines.

I don't know if I'm ready to throw any money at the ugly side yet, I'll wait it out a bit before I think of chroming it up, but maybe that gremlin bell will work nice.

fishpart: I've noticed the same thing since my first post about other cruisers as well... but what I think sets them apart is that they have non-black wheels which draw the eyes.

outlaw: It's kinda like your significant other... at first. Then you learn to love them anyway.

Hey magellan0, Do you ride with anyone else? If your serious about a gremlin bell, swap one with a fellow rider. I did with another member of this forum--(it doubles the magic power).

IMHO the M's ugly side is the the bottom or undercarriage or whatever you want to call it. I never want to see that side.
