Default couple questions about winterizing

Hi all. I want to remove the tank so I can put some oil down the spark plug holes. I have unbolted the tank, etc.....

Question 1: Is there any tricks with that coupler on the end of the fuel line? It seems like a two peice squeezeable thing, but I can't seem to get the line to come off the tube.

Question 2: Normally, I'd remove the battery and store in the house for the winter with my Intruder, charge it periodically, but that was caburated. Since the m50 is efi, is will this screw up the programming come spring when I get it ready to ride again?

Cant help you with the gas line thing, when I took it off I had to mess around for a little bit to get that clamp off. IMO you don’t need to take the tank off, just slide it back for the front and forward for the rear cylinder. What I did was fog through the intake behind the filter till the bike killed. That way I only needed to mess with three key screws.

Go ahead and take the battery out it won’t mess it up.

fuel line is a squeeze and pull type. there is two little tabs that you squeeze and then pull. i had to use needle nose pliers to get enough grip to separate from the tank. about the other question dont know.

Not really any "tricks" per say....to me, it makes it a great deal easier to have a helper so' the tank doesn't slide away from ya while gettin' that tuff little burger to come off. And I agree, the needle nose pliers do work wonders--grip, twist/turn, pull.

No........pulling the battery won't hurt it at all, go for it.

Default drop tube

I take it that when you say turn, you just turn it back and forth to help loosen while squeezing the tabs. I do have someone to help me hold it up while I do it.

Yep, turn/twist it slightly back and forth as you pull, hopefully that'll keep from jerking it, when it finally decides to come off.

I was able to get it off once I used a needle nose on it. BUT, seem to have another problem. When I put it back together, as I turn the key to On, the fuel pump starts, there is an odd noise for a couple seconds, then goes back to the normal sound of the fuel pump until it's done. I took the tank back off, checked that there was no wires pinched, put it back together again, same thing with this different sound. I guess the only way to describe it is like some kind of electrical noise.
Any ideas?

I had a "different" sound also when turning the key right after hooking the tank back up the times I've had it off......I had no long term ill effects from it though, I just attributed it to filling the line back up with fuel.

I had a heck of a time with the coupler too, make sure you push in the tabs on both side in completely and have a rag handy as a litle bit of fuel will spill out.

Did that sound go away eventually? Unfortunately, I filled the crank case with oil as the first thing that I did, and don't want to start it. I guess filling with oil should be the last thing I do to winterize it. I don't want to have to drain it and then refill it. I don't think I'll be able to syphon it out from thet top either to a level to where I can run it. Live and learn

YES Sir, it did, after a the first time-(I think), definately the second........but sadly, you'll probably have to wait till ya can---start it....ride it(short trip/round the block), shut her completely down, turn the key back on, just to make sure, like I did.
