Glad to hear that you found the culprit!
This forum is invaluable to me in making sure I enjoy my M50.

Glad to see more Aussie riders too.

Yep Danr, you put put me on the right track - thanks mate. I lubricated where necessary without success, and finally removed the seat and then tightened and lubricated the bolt at the rear of the tank. It was pretty tight already, but a quarter-turn did the trick. Ahhhh, the silence is wonderful. Now all I need is loud pipes.

Hey Sled - I'll have to get a photo sorted. As you know, the '07 Australian delivered M50 is a unique metallic blue/purple. I'm a bit of a techno-dunce and will have to figure out how to post photos soon so stay tuned.

You are right you get some LOUD pipes and you can't hear those tiny rattles, lots of {bad} stuff to happen under the LOUD pipes

I Am Woman

-Artist: Helen Reddy from "Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits": EMI ST 11467
-peak Billboard position # 1 for 1 week in 1972
-Words and Music by Helen Reddy and Ray Burton

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

One of the rubber isolator bushings was missing from the chrome speedometer cover on my M 50, made a heckuva racket at certain rpms. Also was hard to find.
