Default coolant level

Has anyone worked out the little window in the side panel for checking the coolant level?

I have been trying to see ANYTHING with a mechanics mirror, and today managed to find the angle to hold the mirror.

But I couldn't work out what I was supposed to be seeing!.

There is a line in the middle of the window, and I could sorta see a shadow which must be the coolant. But because of the mirror - which way is above the line, and which way is below the line?

I took the line that if I could see any coolant in this wndow - then it was ok.

Having it serviced on Wednesday - will ask the spannerman.

LOL. You guys.

Stand next to the bike and hold it up with one handlebar. Look at the windows with your eyeballs. Put away those danged mirrors.

If you must, outward is up.

Same here. Are we sure that we are not talking about the engine oil level window? That's the only window on my M50. Right side, down low.

Left side - small cutout in cover
I can find the window - struggling to get enough light to see anything!

Your are right mate. Never noticed that cutout before down there. Anyway it's useless, I removed the cover and took a proper look. At 4500 kms the coolant was spot on. One of the chrome bolts on the cover is a dud, just there for show.
