Default Major shaking

Hello everone,

I am a new cyclist. My first bike is the M50. I have a few problems with it: 1) the bike shakes badly when speeds are over 70 mph. 2) the exhust has an air sound to it like the valves need adjusting. 3) I don't have enough leg room.
Other than that the bike is great. How can I solve the problems?

NHN

1. drive 69mph
2. new pipes
3. forward controls

j/k, do you have a windsheild on your M? if so that could cause the shaking. but new pipes and forwards controls from johns kits should solve the other problems

Hi NHN,

Welcome to the site. Fill out your profile a bit more (like location) and hope you like it here. Plenty of good info for you, especially since your new to motorcycling.

Describe the shake. Is your bike just buzzing alot all over? The M50 does reach higher RPM above 70 which will translate into your bike buzzing around your feet and hands. This type of buzzing is normal for any v-twin reaching the upper rpms. Trust me 100mph buzzes worse..hehe.

BUT if your experiencing something like your handlebars wanting to jerk out of your hands at that speed you might have a serious problem.

If it seems like the 1st paragraph, different style grips or foot pegs might help. Can't really recommend any (most ppl like ISO grips it seems), but more/different cusion can help dumb down that buzz you feel through the frame.

Air sound on the exhaust...not sure if I can help you w/o hearing it. The bike above 70mph does seem buzzy to some and in turn the pipes have a hollow ring to them. Sort of like a sportbike, ring to it just a note or 2 lower.

and ditto on the Johns kit Custom Lowering bones and forward controls for Volusias and New Boulevard C50 this is the cheapest and easiest mod out there vs buying super expensive forward kits.

Did you buy it New ? If so bring it to the dealer.
If you bought it used, was it ever down in a accident ?

Solving the problems depend on the above answers my friend.

Welcome to the forum, the M50 is a great ride. You should take it in to a dealer and have them analyze the shaking.

Great advice from above posts. Describe your bike more; mileage and condition. Check air pressure in both tires. Shaking can also occur from unbalanced tires.

+1 on the whole post.

Mine shook violently at 52 mph on up when I took delivery.

Dealer had like 46 psi in the tires.
