Yes its possible I just finished installing a tach on my 07 m50
I got the auto meter 19325 pro cycle and it was setup for our single fire ingition system, no extra adapter required, and this tach does not jump like I've heard the barron and cobra tach's do, the down side is that it does not come with a mounting bracket, i made one at a machine shop, i'll post pics of my setup later if you want.

the speedo is stock its the 07 limited m50. and the tach came with a red bulb cover.
the tach wiring on the auto meter i got was simple, power, ground, and two coil wires, the negative coil wires is what they hook to, i wired mine about 6in from the ecu, computer., I used a 1in crome clamp on the handle bars next to the speedo, and the mounting bracket was machined out of a solid piece of metal. you could probably find some one with a lathe and mill to make one for you.
