| Ah, well my day was nice. Got off work an hour early was heading out to a friends to show of my new pipes and well.... ....about 30 seconds from my house In a curve I found my self sliding and rolling across the street. It seemed like it took forever and all I could think of is "WHy the hell am I sliding on pavement?" while watching the cars zoom by looking at me. When I finally stopped sliding and rolling I jumped up to the bike. My first concern above all was what side did it fall on. I just put on new pipes last Thursday night. It luckily fell on the other side. I picked it up and got it all the way out of the road and tried to stand it up and well the kick stand was in a U formation along with the clutch! So the next question was "what caused this?". Started looking at the road and there was a big oil spill about 500 ft long. I slid about 40 feet and the marks are in the pavement to prove it. This really got me mad. So I went back to the bike started it and its fine. Though some damages that will need to be fixed before it is good to ride. After about later 10mins a woman stopped to check everything out. She was a rider and started pointing out my torn clothes. I had no idea I was even scraped. Though my left elbow is nothing but raw skin all the way around and my fav. long sleeve ruined.I can't walk to well now, my hip is not very happy with being slammed on the ground.... My neck doesnt seem to enjoy it either..ha.. and Im sure work tomorrow is going to suck. And of course as I would expect, no one stopped while it happened, no one called the cops or anything (and people wonder why I hate the public). I was convinced 30 mins later to do so by my dad in which I did so the the hazard could be clean up and I refused medical. Anyhow, Can some one take a pic of the kick stand assembly. I know the stand is ruined but the rest of it Im not sure about it. It may have always been where it is and then again maybe not. Im also looking for some good drag style bars, any suggestions? If anyone has put on new forward controls, would they be interested in selling their old ones? Anyhow I still have to go over it good tomorrow to find the other damages. Right now it mainly seems to be the handle bars, kickstand, clutch, marker lights, left forward control area. It seems they saved the tank and the side covers except for the coolent cover. anyhow... thanks.. |

| Well sorry about your spill. You'll be sore for awhile most likely so take it easy.

| Sorry to hear about the spill. Glad you called the police so no other rider will suffer the same. Check E-bay for parts, I have seen bars on there often for the C50. |

| Sorry to hear about it man. I dropped my bike on the freeway off-ramp about a few weeks ago and I am still a bit sore. Luckily I hit the curb and landed in in a dirt/rock field. It seams that we have about the same amount of damage, just on opposite sides...with the exception of when I got up with the bike and dropped it again, on the other side, because I was still dizzy

| Glad to hear your doing fine man. I wrecked mine on the other side last Monday night after work also. Our injuries sound very similar. So yes, walking does become a little more difficult for a while. Especially after sitting for a while. My road rash wounds are getting better but mine are all in bad spots (like palms, knee cap, elbows, and ankle joints) so they are constantly hurting eery time I move. Kind of got used to it now though. My bruises on the other hand are turning some nice colors so that should be good, but they are still growing. In fact my large bruise on my leg seems to be running down my leg more and more every day. I would say probably atleast 3 weeks for most of your scrapes. Probably longer for any really deep ones although I had one on my hand that was down to the muscle but it is kind of on pace with the rest of my wounds. Swelling should go down in a couple weeks and the bruises and stiffness may linger around for about a month. Hope this doesn't scare you, shouldn't be too bad and maybe you will come out with some cool scars. Once again man, glad to hear it was serious. Good Luck with the recovery and rebuild. |

| U.B's LoveChild ![]() | Sorry to hear about your spill. I'd be pretty annoyed with the oil slick as well. We often make a habbit of watching out for them and do our best to avoid on straight road but when we are in a curve it's quite difficult to avoid. G/L getting things fixed buddy. TT

| That's too bad there was oil on the road. Stupid Cagers... Hope you and your bike get better. I have a set of forward controls that I never used that I can sell you. Johns' Kit. Let me know.

| First sorry about your spill that really sucks, it sucks more that no one stoped to help. Glad you will ride another day. There are several M50 parts on ebay as we speak. I believe there is a kick someone crashed as is parting out. Riding a horse is good, riding many horses on two wheels is better! |

| Ext1jdh, Thanks, everything should be in order. I just need to heat up the stand and bend it back. It's been ground down a bit but shouldn't hurt anything. Hell all it does is hold the bike up, ha. kbsnow, It looks as if the peg area is fine. I pulled them off today and it only bent the bolts and shifter. I can bend the shifter back and get new bolts and hop that no damage was done to the linkage in the trans. I drove it how and it shifted fine given the clutch was twisted below the grip and the shifter bent up towards the frame. What would you want for the bars? Im wanting to go with something different, but I may go with stock to get back on the road as soon as possible. jpwM50, I was planning on getting some new forward controls, though right now with other things I can't get exactly what I want. So Im interested, what sort of price? I do need to move them up, im 6' 3" and need the stretch. I recently dropped my suspension to 1 and was going to drop it a few inches given if my new pipes will allow it. Anthony, Yeah that sucks, if it were me and I dropped it a second time I think I would have just laid down and laughed at myself that they would have carted me away.... Any major repairs? RaYcE, I don't think I got it as bad as you. I was lucky, I was covered in oil and I think that saved alot of flesh. I was lubricated. My elbow sucks right now. My hip got a little better through out the day since I went to work and walked all day but coughing hurts a bit. My shoulders and neck hit me later on, so it feels like they are going to get worse for a couple of days. I figure a couple weeks for my elbow. My wallet saved my ass, it took all the damage there. I drove through it today and keep a close eye to see if there was something I could have done to avoid it. Either paying better attention or just staying further to the white line. In my car I could not see it all until I was on it. There was nothing I could have done. This was more than a little oil. This was either very heavy burned oil or grease. It cover a stretch of about 500 feet of the road, and about 75% of the lane. I slide around 40 feet. This did not come from a car, either a big utility truck or a transport with barrels of oil/grease. My tires are coated and I had a good bit all over my clothes. Man there was no in between. I was up right then on the ground. I don't remember even slightly feeling like I was losing control. It was within a milli second. But it felt as if I was moving on the pavement forever. Im just lucky that the curve went to the right which threw me away from traffic. If it had been going the other way there is doubt I'd be dead right now. I stopped rolling about 2 feet from a fire hydrant which saved me from severe injuries. Im pretty much relearning how to drive a car right now. It has a lot of spider web in it and Im surprised the battery isn't dead. I need to get it inspected.... to say the least Haven't driven it since like Febuary. What gets me the most is I went into the gas station just about 100 feet from were it happened. They asked how I was doing and I told them. They know me said that was you?. They said a few people came in to pay for gas and said that somebody laid down there bike. And yet nobody did one thing. Makes you a bit more jaded towards people, and Im very jaded towards people as is. I warned all the bikes that were coming down so they would miss it. However a jackass on a crotch rocket and another on a Harley riding together slowed down, we pointed it out. They said did you lay it down and I said yes. They took of slow and criss crossed through, almost as if rubbing it in my face. I regret warning them. Any how, Thanks alot guys, glad I found this site awhile back. It's been very helpful and good people too. Thanks. Rob |

People seem to not like my view on it but oh well. Usually they are the 'hobby riders' and own a real estate company and ride on sunday after noons only. | |

| Sorry to here that you didn’t receive any help and I’m glad you are OK, but I can’t agree with your summation of the world and people in it though. I’ve been unfortunate enough to throw two bikes down the road and been grateful of the help I’ve received by complete strangers each time. This is a common theme for any time I’ve had problem on the open road through out Australia and so I can't subscribe to your point of view, but perhaps this is an Aussie thing and not a USA thing BTW I ride full time and no I don't trust anyone behind a wheel WRT staying safe, but I don't think they don't care, they just don't know and are unaware [& often self involved]. When people feel scared or unsure or awarkward you can't blame them for not stopping. [Sorry about that profane, didn't mean to preach; had to many beers and a zen moment! Hate that
