Thanks....

At the point of the first blink...my odometer has anywhere from 120 to 160 miles on it.

This really depends on how far I fill her up. If I'm hitting a big slab I'll fill her up high....if I'm hitting the twisties I put a little less in...I get nervous smelling fuel while I'm riding & this method limits it.

I'd guess about 25 or so miles would be "reasonably" safe to attempt after it starts blinking. Best idea...get her into a gas station ASAP. My advice is to have fuel to spare, rather than risk running out.

Iv done 25 miles after the light started blinking. I was in the middle of nowhere and started to get a little scared. The light pretty much for me starts blinking between 120 - 145 miles.

ride it til the lite stays on solid then worry.
solid lite is 15 miles tops for me.
180 to 200 miles for it to blink.

I'm new to the forum so, I will say hello first.

The tank is ~4.1 gal., my light starts to blink and I usually fill up immediately.
I am able to put between 3.1-3.4 gal. in. I have been getting between 45-47 mpg so that works out to ~40 miles at best. That is the way it works out for me anyway.

keep in mind that the way you ride (hard on throttle) or any mods with an FI controller will have a difference in how far you can stretch that tank.

If you are travelling and need to stretch to the next station, cutting back to 55 mph will do wonders for you. But as most here already stated, many ppl average at least 20 miles during the blinking stage if not a bit more.

So the light will stay solid eh? I thought I seen it staying solid right before I filled up.

Does anyone notice the fuel light start to blink faster before going solid or is this just my imagination? I try not to stare at this freakin' blinking light as I'm riding but it's kind of hard not to notice it.

i wish it would come on solid initially at .7 gal and then blink when your down to .3 gal. it is very distracting early in the morning with fog and darkness.

I feel the same way Outlaw...I can't stand it when that freaking thing starts blinking.

I half wonder what people think when I stop at a light & have this off & on red glow hitting me.

"Look at that guy!...Does he think he's a rolling light show?"

I've gone 186 miles before the solid light came on, i still had about 4/10 of a gallon left in the tank, i average 50 mpg consistintly so i figure i can go 200 miles before i start pushing it down the road by hand.

Low&Slow is a occupation i fly crop dusters for a living, but the 50mpg is keeping the mph around 60 or less. Riding two up with my financial advisor at a steady 60mph i've gotten as high as 53mpg.

After changing my air intake and adding a PCIII I went through the hills on the way to a town 300k's north of Adelaidecalled Jamestown, and yes I was generous with the throttle. I got out on the plains against a slight head wind and open her up a few time just enjoying the new found power and then at 190k's I saw the light come on.

OH yeah I thought, better fill up....next town is...Burra 45K's. Ok thats cool, I normally get what...18-19K per liter thats 60 or 70k's. So on I went at 120.

1.5ks from Burra my ride goes...BRRRRRR..ROOOOM....BRRRRRRR and stops. @$@#!!!! I think and I pull the clutch in, how far is Burra??? . I was on a a slight slope and still doing 100K's so I just let her roll. After about a K I go past the outer town markers and the terran levels off and I slow down to a crawl.

OK baby, give just a bit more I think, pump the throttle and hit the starter. She roars to life and I'm in 1st, 2nd 60kph and BRRRRRR, ROOOR, BURRRRR in goes the clutch. Roll, roll, roll and stop. 30 meters from the first servo.

Bit close that one.

Lesson learnt. If you change your fuel intake and give it heaps your fuel consuption will go up by heaps. If you cruise it goes down again (20.5K's/L on the way home), hence if the light goes on and your out in the wild SLOW DOWN!!!

BTW 14.85L was all the tank could take. Thats 0.65L less than what the book says which equals the extra 10K's easy
