Default 2 questions

hey all noticed that yall are really knowledgeable(sp), so figured i would ask a few questions for some help. I have the faster than other colors 06 silver m50 and when I get up to speed i can hear something squeaking/rattling. I swear i read somewhere that the tank sits on rubber fittings and they can squeak and with this Ive held the tank up with my legs and it went away. The question is how can the stealer get rid of the noise or myslef if its that easy, (taking it in this week for first tuneup, hit 500 miles today). And then other thing is, i found some lil driving lights laying around in the garage and found a great place to rig them up, the only thing is i have no idea what the thread pattern is. Right under the headlight is a set of threads that i assume is for mounting a light bar or something to the front but my lights are free if someone can tell me the size bolt i need? yes Iknow this post is worthless without pics but a camera is worthless if you dont charge the batteries which im doing now; pics asap tonight.

With the squeaking tank remove your seat and the two bolts that hold the tank on and make sure those rubbers on the side of tank are seated properly.

Or maybe the noise your hearing is your belly rubbing up on the tank.

Info on the bolt sizes is here.

Just be careful - as was relayed in that thread, the front forks do compress quite a bit and you could be running the lights into your front fender.

I can't remember the best solution for the rubber pucks at the front of the gas tank. My solution was to just ignore it, get ear plugs and ride faster (so the wind noise covered it).

I knew a guy that had it way worse. When he took off his shirt, it looked like he was wearing a sweater.

I used to work with him (as a roofer at the time)...we used to offer him cash to put his shirt back on.

If I were you I'd put a thin layer of grease on those rubber tank mounts. When your at the stealer and they're doing your tuneup they'll have the tank off so I'd just have them do it. Good luck!

yeah i was gonna mention that and the clutch cable. info for other newbies: yes the m will burnout, if your not sure how have someone else do it. i did mine and it had a good patch going then i tried another and the clutch released itslef and killed the bike. it wouldnt engage to restart the bike so i had to let it rest while i looked at it. its fine now and been riding it since. went to the stealer and looked at the 07 (dorky fuel gauge imo) and the cable looked the same. i dunno maybe one day itll work.

ok here goes. i tried to use grease. i tried military (WTR) and i tried lithium grease and i tried something else i had around the shop. none of them worked. what did work was a small strip of cloth wrapped around the puck. make sure the ends wrap to the front and then slide the tank on. no more squeek for over 6000 miles. btw, be proud of your gut, if your like me it took a lot of money and relentless training (at least 3 times a day) to build.
