Default How do you like the Lindby Highway Bars?

I've been thinking about crash bars, and how downright cool the Lindby bars look. I understand that the bars for the Volusia, #802-1, will fit the M50. Anybody have anything good (or bad) to say about those bars? Anybody feel strongly about them one way or another? I don't have to worry about forward control kits, I'm only 5'10", and the stock control location is just perfect for me, so that's not something I'd have to account for with any kind of crashbar. Anybody put them on and decide they just wouldn't do?

Default Love my Lindbys

I had diffuculty with the first set I ordered. They were out of alignment and would not mount properly. Luckily, I live close to the manufacturer and Anne Lindby got me a replacement set that bolted up with no problem. Nice people over there at Lindby and I would recommend them highly. There is nothing that comes close to their unique style and they really broaden the stance of the M50

Had them for a while now, LOVE them. Very comfortable as highway pegs, and really like the look overall. I get alot of comments about them. Plus, god forbid, if I ever go down, I know these bars will keep the bike off me better and protect the engine alot more that most engine guards I have seen out there.

Here are two older pics from when I first put them on. I have since made some mods to the lights, paint, etc.

Thanks for the comments.

The bag is a Joe Rocket Rapid Transit tank bag, works great on the back, holds all my raingear plus basic tools. It even holds a gallon of milk!

I'll put some new pics up before long. I'm doing more mods, moving the instrument lights up above the speedo, placing switches for my fog lights and LED's on the tank. Gotta get it done and make sure it works before I post any pics.

Been working on my airbrushing, may switch from my current flames to realistic flames soon.

After looking at several of the bikes of folks here, I've come to the conclusion that ANY bars will change the look of the bike a lot, with the possible exception of those small Suzuki add-on bars (they certainly seem unobtrusive...). If I'm going to add bars and change the look of the bike anyway, why not go for a look that's both striking and different? Heh - that way, it'll fit in with the general M50 "look", anyway.

Thanks, all, for the experiences and opinions. Nothing like a little reinforcement to get me to spend my money.

I just ordered the Lindby bars from Oneida Suzuki. Now, if they just have them in stock (Lindby's on break until the end of the month). I can see my money flying away now. Bye, money! Have fun in your new home...

OK I'm going to pipe up...I REALLY don't like the look of those bars, but that's simply my opinion on what I like on my M, so if you like 'em...giddyup!

I actually went with the oem suzuki bars because I like that they were subtle. I don't want people to look at the bike and see any one thing that stands out, I want it to flow together into a seamless package. On that note...my oem bars sure ain't gonna help if I drop the bike...where you guys who like the Lindby bars will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Too each there own my friends!

i hear what you're saying. i liked the functionality of the sissybar i threw on for sis's visit but it stuck out like a sore thumb. i think i need 2 M50's. one for the jump-on-it free-like-a-bird part of me, and another for the "i'm really safe and can travel anywhere comfortably without a sore a$$ and tote all my gear while i'm at it" part of me.

i should start a fund for that second one, eh?

I feel the same way about the sissy bar. I took my back seat off because my wife won't get on without the bar...and I won't put on the bar...it's my way of being petty...

I'll pony up a couple bucks and some old foot pegs if you want to build another bike...that's just the kinda guy I am

Can you rest your feet up on those, or do you have to get highway pegs put on?

Still needs highway pegs, the bar isn't quite wide enough...I'm really not a fan of the highway pegs on the bars...or the larger bars...so I'm investing in forward controls, which means I'd have to remove the oem bars. So I'm in the process of fabricating an extension that will move the crashbar forward and the johnskit forward controls out a little wider so it all fits togeher

Hey geoffsimpson!!

It would be possible you attach a pic of your bike viewing the front of the bike and the camera in front of the bars at the same time??? Its just for checking how big they are and if they make his works fine if you drop . That´s becouse im looking for small bars ( i dont like bigger) and at the same time functional bars.

Thanks for all u could do!
