Default Debadge Tutorial

Alright I've seen how to debadge in a few spots so I figured I would write up a simplified debadge technique. I only used about 1/16th a bottle of goo gone too

Tools: Library Card (or similar), Fishing Line (or Floss), Goo Gone
Approximate Time: An hour including clean up.

Step 1: Soak both sides of the tank badges with goo gone, let sit for a minute or two. Then repeat Two more times.
Step 2: Take fishing line (or dental floss if you dont have any fishing line handy) slip it inbetween the tank emblems.
Step 3: In a sawing motion move from one end to the other. When you reach the other side you can them remove the badge
Step 4: Soak the doublesided tape that is on the badge with goo gone.
Step 5: Peel up a corner and pull out the handy library card (or something similar) While holding the corner up use the edge of the card to saw the sticky part of the tape still on the tank. The angle you are holding the card should be just a little below 90*
Step 6: Now that most of the tape has been removed apply some more goo gone and scrub with a rag. This will cause the rest of the tape to come off
Step 7: Do Steps 1-6 on the other side
Step 8: Clean the tank
Step 9: Wash and Wax to remove any of the very light scractes that may be there and to bring out the beautiful shine.

Im still pretty conflicted about it as well.

I think I would have to come across some graphics or something that I fall in love with that will make me do it.

I debadged today. I was unsure if i'd like it or not.

I hate wearing brand names. Anything that I own I remove the logos and such if it is possible. With the tank I just wasn't sure if it would affect the look badly or not. To be honost, these badges were not all the bad looking. Outside of the fact they said boulevard, which in my opinion is a stupid name. Marauder sounds much better.

Any how, I like it alot with out them. It is cleaner looking, and just smooth. Glad I did it.

I did'nt follow this tutorial, though I pretty much did the same thing as.

A small caution not to jump into this with an older bike like my '03 Marauder. On it, the badges on the side of the tank are decals that are underneath the clearcoat. They'll still peel off, but you'll have a time getting rid of the glue and you'll still be able to see where they were. I guess a rattle can of clearcoat might hide them better but I haven't tried yet.

Here's my Tutorial.

1. I look at the Badge
2. Get a clean rag and buff it up 'till it's nice and shiny
3. I leave it alone 'cause it looks so good

(Sorry LJM9000, I'm just trying to be funny. Excellent post!)

Debadged 05 C50SE

Used WD40, waxed dental Floss, Plastic Card, Liquid Polish.

Removed Suzuki sticker rear fender, safety sticker on tank, tank badges, side panel badges.

Just takes a little time.

LJM, I had great success using a heat gun, be careful not to overheat and all badges come off and no scratches, along with most of the glue, then wax and buff.
