Default 1/4 mile times for a M50?

I found this on Cycle World forums:

Honda Sabre ('00) 14.26
51.4 rwhp
wet weight 660 lbs
torque: 62.7

Honda VTX 1300S ('02) 13.50
57.8 rwhp
wet weight 709 lbs
torque: 74.7

HD 883L ('05) 14.98
40.8 rwhp
wet weight 574 lbs
torque: 41.9

Honda Shadow Aero 750 ('04) 15.23
36.9 rwhp
wet weight 542 lbs

Yamaha V-Star ('9 15.82
33.4 rwhp
wet weight 535 lbs

Yamaha V-Star Classic 1100 ('00) 14.91
48.7 rwhp
wet weight 658 lbs

Suzuki M-50 ('05) 13.99
41.9 rwhp
wet weight 574 lbs.

-MCN Jan. '06

I think 13.99 would work out to somewhere around 100-105 MPH

Cool, but less power yet faster times?

Nice but I thought there would be a couple more ponies hanging around some where

Are you talking trap speed? It'll be closer to 100mph than 105.

So are those stock times?... 13.99 is great for the M50. Let's get a contest on how fast your M50 can do on the track with some simple mods, no nitrous.

I am pretty sure this was a stock M50 with most likely a professional racer around 150 lbs.

Hey, I weigh 150lbs and I used to race... now all I need is the professional part.

Kidding aside, I should go to Napierville and run the 1/4 mile and see what I can come up with.

My best time at the 1/8 mile in 2006 was 8.78 on a VS800 with exhaust mod only....I weighed 240 pounds when I did that....PLUS I had a 6 gallon gas tank (usually full) full saddlebags and a windshield.

Link to my thread where I posted results of a couple races when I first started racing. Those were when I was "green" at the track. It's been so long since I been at the track...that I'd call myself green again, but I'd be happy to talk smack to any M50 owners around here willing to meet me at Huntsville Dragway.

Trust me on this...the M50 is SLOWER than the Intruder...might have something to do with the extra 100 pounds of hardware y'all carry around, but I blame the engine.

Hey, the M50 has 100 pounds more style than the intruder.

Dr. Bob referred to the M50 as a big disappointment. Here's a weight to power comparison from the data below (yes I read my posts reversed so I go straight to the latest post and not have to search for it). This is with a 200 pound rider.

V-Star 650
22.0 pounds for every hp

Aero 750
20.1 pounds for every hp

HD 883
18.9 pounds for every hp

S40 (added)
18.5 pounds for every hp

M50
18.4 pounds for every hp

V-Star 1100
17.6 pounds for every hp

VTX 1300
15.7 pounds for every hp

An M50 with common mods (49 hp estimate)
15.3 pounds for every hp

Since the M50 handles better than any other bike on this list, it's power can be used more to it's fullest potential.
