How much attention do you get on your M50?

Man ive only had this thing since last friday but every time I stop my bike theres some person trying to get my attention, some kids staring out there window, people at the bus stop watching, and filling up at the gas station random people just coming up to you and talking about anything. Even people ive been living with on my floor whom ive never talkd to before all of a sudden start talking to me...

I actually like the attention im getting, it seems like having a bike is a great way to start a conversation and meet new people.. anyone have any funny stories?

today i stopped by some friends auto repair business. it's a big place. 7 bays. busy. successful. i went there to show my them my new bike mods and so i drove right into one of the bays and cranked the throttle a couple times to "announce" my arrival. well, maybe i cranked it more than a couple times. it sounded sooo good inside a garage with the walls. like under an overpass, you know. but anyway, within a minute there were 8 people i know standing around my bike in a circle spouting off one thing after another they love about the bike.

i never got that reaction from my savage - that's for sure!

I personally like the double take from Harley owners...you'll know them when you see them...they do this:

Turn head
look puzzled
look forward
Shake head
Turn head again
look more puzzled
Head to shop to get rubber belt drive fixed
get bill
look puzzled

Now you know what to look for

Then I realized they were actually looking at my ex-wife being dragged behind with rope.

I got "flashed" by three schoolgirls on a bus stop a few weeks back. They laughed like mad when i nearly dropped my M50B in the gutter.
I felt soooo dirty, I've got a 22yo daughter but these three 15yo's blew my mind!

I get people looking at it every time I stop anywhere. Always say "nice bike". I have had many Harley owners stop and talk to me about it. They always say what a nice looking bike. What is it? (I have debadged the whole bike).
Here's the kicker though...I pulled into Taco Bell for lunch and here is this older couple I mean like my parents age(80's) in an SUV.the little old lady says"What a beautiful bike.......What is it?!" I assume she was hoping I wasn't going to say a Harley,because when I said a Suzuki,she says very excitedly "Oh a Suzuki!" her husband says,"We have a Gold Wing" and we talked for a few minutes about the M50 them asking questions, and they went off.
It was a really nice feeling.
I wear a full face helmet with a black shield and I have gotten many looks and a quite a few waves from younger (20-30 yrs old) women. They would freak if they knew how old I REALLY am (53). Makes me laugh....
I have been asked many times if it is an 1800 cc......

Stopped at an accessory shop yesterday where Harley owners usually hang out. Needless to say, all eyes were on me and my M50. They watched, listened to the stock exhaust and gave me that "poser" stare. I know deep inside they were thinking, that man has a nice ride.

Everywhere else, I get the biker waves, smiles, stares, and compliments. I have no regret owning an M50 because when I start my bike and ride off in less than 30 seconds (fuel injection/no choke, practically maintenance free) its a great feeling. Under my helmet, I'm grinning ear to ear.
It trips me out when someone asks "Is that a Harley?" I respond, "No its a Suzuki Boulevard, M50 style".

I was at the Suzuki Dealerhsip today getting my Scorpio alarm system and 2 guys outside on their GXR and SV650 where staring at it and we just started talking. They asked me how it handled and I said "Like a sports bike" and their mouths dropped.. Its definitely the sportiest cruiser ive ever ridden on, we all rode off together down the highway !

I go to a lot of cruises where most of the bikes are Harleys or much bigger metrics and I am always surprised at the attention my M50 gets. As a side note I don't find most Harley owners to be stuck up at all, quite a few of them have shown interest in my bike.

I agree. Most harley riders are not. Especially the little bit older guys who have always been around bikes. They understand and their intentions are true, so to speak.

If I ever gripe (which I have) about harley guys it has always been about the ones who have not always been into/around bikes. They have something to prove to themselves and are posing for as much as I can figure. They want to be seen as cool more than anything. To fullfil some void in their life they feel they are lacking. The harley guys I know are great people when it comes to this subject.

There are some very nice harleys out and about. And these bikes are not as un-dependable as most think. Usually if the bike has a problem it is either due to poor up keep or the fact that it may be very old. I see good bit of old harleys out and about, and a 15-30 year old motor/parts are going to end up with some problem sometime or another. The m50 is no exception.

I like this bike, but I don't believe it to be the end all be all of bikes. I have only had one person ask me if mine was a harley, which was an older man at my new job. But he doesn't know much about bikes. Most riders know the difference (radiator, shaft, so forth). I hope to start building a bike next year, and Im looking forward to hopefully get a rather large (124 ci would be nice( S&S w/a 6 sp baker tranny. But who knows. But I like the M enough that it will stay with me, with some other additions as well.

I don't think Im any better or worse than anyone else for the bike I own. They are all nice bikes. In the end all I care about is having two wheels on the road, a tank of gas between my legs and no metal protection to save my a$$.

I do wear a dot approved helmet or so it says(not a novelty at least). But I'd probably not wear it if this state didn't have the law. I don't know what I would do because I don't have the choice to know without getting a ticket. My luck would have it, they day that I don't wear one I will get into an accident and live with major brain damage, or wear one get into a wreck and die of brain damage. You never know. It's more likely to get into an accident on a bike but it will probably happen in a car for me. So its all chance... I may die in my sleep tonight.. ha.

I think Im off subject now, though I recall a mention of a helmet I think!

I agree Profane....all of the Harley guys I have talked to have been very nice guys,I actually met three hardcore harley baggers that rode from Maine to Seattle(with no breakdowns) up in the mountains at Chinook Pass in the Mt. Rainier National Park and they were really cool we talked for about an hour. I think alot of Harley riders had Hondas or some other metric in the past before they got thier Harley so they can relate. The bikes are nicer and more depndable now as compared to the past. I think the only thing Harley guys resent is that the Metrics are copying the "Harley style bikes" but you know what they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

My first experience with getting attention was a little nerve racking actually. I was cruising on the highway in traffic to go see a client. This 18 wheeler with no trailer passes me on my right, but suddenly slows down. The guy starts looking at me through his rear window (was some old truck, don't know the make). As he's glancing back several times he starts wandering into my lane but he hasn't completely passed me yet so I get squeezed a bit. I let off to get some breathing room. The guy slows down and gets behind me, then comes up on my left. By this time I am thinking "What the f_ck is wrong with this guy", but as he gets beside me he has this huge smile and is giving me a thumbs up as if he just won the lottery or something! From then on I knew what to expect. I have had the Harley rider double take, the passenger of a car/truck stare without blinking, the nice bike comments, etc. I really like knowing that the M50 is unique and seems to be liked by almost all who see it. I was once asked by a gas station attendant how much I paid, he guessed 15K. I said no, but good guess. It's a blast.

I get a ton of looks. Most seem to be trying to figure out what it is. During the couple thousand miles I've put on her so far, I have yet to see another.

At a benefit ride (yesterday) there was a vendor who was waiting for delivery of a new M109. He was all sorts of excited, wanting to hear what I thought about the bike so far, etc.. We had a nice little chat & for all I know he'll show up here one of these days.

My first group ride yesterday with my riding crew ,after buying the M50 ,all the guys said i was crazy getting a cruiser ,But they all wanted to sit on or ride it.
We got to a large bike meeting point 300+ bikes per day stop their and very one was looking and checking it out.
There all in shock about the amout of bike you get for the price ,and the M50 badge and boulevard name on the tank really confuses them ,in a good way.
And they all ask is it a harley and is it a 1500cc +.

I might get a T shirt made up saying ,N0 MATE! it's a suzuki.

Very happey with the coments im going on the bike .
