Default Spring pre-load setting?

I'm 6'1" and 175 lbs, what's everyone using for a setting (2006 M50)? The factory 3 seems a bit stiff so I'm going to try 2.

Yah I'll bet going a little lighter would definately help...I'm 6'2 and 215 so the factory setting is perfect. Just a heads up though, my friend adjusted his (He's about your size) and ended up setting it back because he thought the bike "wollowed" a bit in corners after the change.

Can't hurt to try though eh?

I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs and I'm running factory 1.
Just as geoffsimpson's friend I feel the bike "wollowing" in the corners too, but only when I turn to sporty driving

I set mine to 5 and 7 when loaded for touring (I weigh 93kg). I think the bike handles better with the higher settings, seams more ridged around bumpy corners.

I think with any bike, the general rule is,
the higher the load, or higher the speed, the higher the preload.

As the others have stated, if set to low, you can get some funky handeling at higher speeds.
