Default Fellow Peg Scrapers and Lowering kits

Hi All,
Quick question. I bought the 2" lowering kit from Johnskits, but have not put them on yet. The other day I scraped my right peg in a right turn. Yeah, you'd think I'd scrape the left, but I must have been leaning over more than I thought. Just wondering if anyone has scraped pegs, and if there is more probability with the lowering kit, or is the lowering not going to change the peg height that much.

I scrape about once or twice a week. I think it depends on the road and the angles it is made. I have scraped the pipes as well. That was scary the first time. BUT I lowered my bike 3-3.5 inches

I have scraped the pegs probably 5 times total. It never scared me at all. I actually like doing it.

I scraped 1 time before the 3" drop. Now I scrape nearly every ride. Because I can.

Yeah, i said it.

I scrape mine from time to time. I am worried about scraping when I put highway bars on it. I plan to get them soon. So I am really pay attention so I don't scrape as much, that way I don't scrape when I get the H/Bars.

Wow,
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here I thought I was something special and now realize that everyone does it. I thought I was too used to my GS500 in the corners and should be more careful. Oh well, maybe I'll put tiny wheels on the bottom of my pegs and call it a day.

Default scrappen

I find that I scrape the right (left hand side of the road we ride in Aussie) a fair bit (twice or so most times when riding through the hills) and the left rearly. Scared the crap out of me the first time but kind of like it now

I'm not concidering lowering because I think it willreduce my clearances in corners and therefore slow me down, I love leaning her over

As for peg scraping, there's a good, relevant section in David Hough's "Proficient Motorcycling" titled Making Sparks. He suggests increasing the shock pre-load and modifying your cornering lines. Before the M50 I had a Katana, so I was used to a much different cornering technique. I took the suggestions from the book and practiced on a heavily-cambered, ~110 degree, right-hand corner nearby and until I could make it through without scraping the peg. Since those practice sessions, I only scrape a peg when I have a passenger and am loaded down with touring gear.

I have scraped on the right twice also ( I drive on the right) ,but seems I can't lean it over far enough through a left turn. Don't know why. Scared maybe.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I did drop my preload on the shock to #2, but may put it back up. I'm not that heavy. If I do the lowering kit I may put it up to 4. I will check out that book to see if I can un-learn my GS500e cornering techniques!

I scrape at least every ride (Left and Right). Stock height too. There is a big difference in scraping doing slow speed right handers at an intersection and 45mph romps through the twisties (the second being way more fun of course). All my buddies ride sportbikes and you can't even stay close to them when they are going slow without dragging a peg (they still leave me in the dust, but that ok). I am thinking more and more about adding an SV to the stable for those twistie days (I'm also the only one in our group riding a cruiser).
