Hi Iceman I am an idiot I thought I had the wrong pipes but the new ones just didn't fit as flush as the stock pipes. Alls well now.

Thanks

Hi blue I was thinking the new pipes wouldn't fit because where the pipe ends connect to the headers it was not as flush and as tight of a fit as the stock pipes. They kind of stuck out more. After adjusting and tightening all bolts down it was just fine. Plus the instruction sheet says Suzuki VL800 Intruder Volusia not VZ800 Maurader so that was throwing me off. The stock gaskets were perfect too with only 500 miles on the bike.

Ok about the pipes the old stock ones are so heavy I was very surprised...seemed like all baffle. The new jardines look amazing much better looking and shorter on the bike imo then the batcycle (stock) ones.

The sound to me is much louder then stock...at idle very nice rumble....not harley like though. Blip the throttle and the rumble turns into a pleasing growl. Didn't have a chance to do any riding. I have the bike apart as I am also installing thunder air kit and pcIII tomorrow. I can definately say I would not want to ride the bike long at all without also installing a fuel processor. The bike seemed very lean and it will be even leaner after the thunder air kit. I will let you know what the difference is after all is installed and I test ride it a bit.

Kevin/Blue,

I have the same exact pipes with a Cobra FI. They sound pretty good and not obnoxiously loud. Hit the throttle and you'll really hear it. I didn't have much trouble installing it and yes they DO NOT sit flush. Just make sure you blue loctite the bolts. Have fun with it.

Hi 1911 I didn't have any blue loctite around...does it make a big difference?

Loctite does make a difference. I checked a couple of days after I initially installed it and the bolts were loose. I still needed a tool but it was loose enough that it did not make me feel comfortable. Adding loctite keeps the bolts tight.

Hi Blue well I spent the better part of saturday installing the pcIII and air kit. I don't have alot of mechanical experience so I took my time. My thunder air kit did not come with the "t" fitting for the hose so the butterfly flaps are not moving, but thats ok with me. Full open all the time.

I have to agree with all the other posts about after market pipes, air kit, and fuel processor. I now have a new bike. The pcIII evened out the bike and it sounds even better then before with the new pipes. The bike runs like a dream now. Not so herky jerky at slow speeds and cagers can hear me coming. I was concerned that the pipes would be too loud but they are perfect. You can roll through the neighborhood without p'in off the neighbors and when you get on it people notice.

Funny story, the first time I took the bike out after the mods I was getting on it good to test and hear the sound. I had a cage full of big big brothers pull up next to me all looking at the bike. And I figured this is where I get bike jacked. And one of them asks me what bike is that and what the hell cc engine is in it. )))

hey kev, i've been dying to hear how your weekend installations went! sounds like you're really pleased with the results. i wish i could see and listen! that's a funny story about the onlookers obviously admiring your bike. i can't wait to see what all the hub-bub is about with the performance increase cuz i can't quite fathom what to expect. btw even cruisercustomizing was out of the pipes so i ended up ordering today from starcycle.com - the only place i could find that has them in stock!! enjoy your "new" bike!!

I put the Jardine 2:2 slash cuts and a Cobra FI2000 on mine. No tweaks or adjustments required except for new flange gaskets to stop the exhaust from leaking. Bike runs much stronger than stock with a slight loss of low-end torque. Overall I am happy except for the sound of the pipes. They are an improvement over stock (what wouldn't be?) but are not deep sounding enough for me. I am going to try to replace the baffles with Thundermonsters or Hardkrome straight-through baffles before I throw in the towel and sell them on ebay and buy the Hardkrome 3" Long Straights I should have bought in the first place ($485). You would think Jardine would know that what we all really want is that Harley rumble, not a sport bike blat blat blat as we go through the gears. At idle, mine sounds the same as stock. I am not impressed with the Jardine sound.

howdy neighbor, that sucks that you're disappointed in the pipes. Funny I just ordered them for $400 and the pipes you really want are $485. too bad we couldn't have swapped! anyway, i went for these totally on looks - they were the only ones that i just loved. different strokes for different folks and thanks for pointing out there at least there are options with the thunder monster baffles to help on the sound if it needs it...
