Default More on M50 OEM saddlebags

Oneida Suzuki have told me that Suzuki are not coming up with saddlebags for the M50 in the near future. They also said that C50 OEM bags will fit the M50, but I would need to install the C50 saddlebag supports.

Assistance please: Are the C50 bag supports different than those for the M50? Will the C50 support bars fit straight on to the M50?

If I can mount the C50 bags, will their design clear the stock rear turn indicators on the M50? I don't want to re-locate the stock items. If any one has used C50 bags on their M50 I would be grateful for advice.

If no luck, I'm heading this way http://www.vartex.be/

Thanks.

I read somewhere on these forums that you will need to relocate the turn signals if you use theC50 bags. Not sure about the brackets .

Hey Aussie,

I purchased C50 OEM bags and M50 Brackets from Oneida. I had to turn the rear indicators 45 degrees to stop them hitting the bags but i soon got LED's and relocated them. Its friggin freezing up here in "The Alice" we had -4c the other morning so my bike is living in the shed until midday at least,,,lol

Thanks Toolboy..I'll make a decision this week. Yeah pretty cold winter here too this year. I've had to go out and buy some Alpine Stars Goretex gloves to keep the chillblains away.

Aussierider,

Those k-drive bags do look nice....

I cannot determine though which bag is for the M50. I am getting some conflicting information from the manufacturer site (the one you linked), and a vendor site:

http://www.classiccruiser.com/srvs/cgi-bin/webcgi.exe

Do a search there for K-drive saddlebags that fit the M50 and you will see two different bags that pop up.... Just wondering if anyone has seen these bags on an M50!

Your link won't come up for me, but I took code # HC147S6 (Iparex) to my stealer, he checked it out with the importer down here & said the code # for that set is now HC147S7. He thinks the last no. reflects 2007 models rather than 2006, but they are the same deal. 3-4 weeks wait for them.

bigears has bought a set for his M50 and apparently is more than pleased.

Calling bigears!! Do you have the code no for the K-Drive saddlebags you bought?

BTW my dealer confirms that the OEM bags for the M50 are not on the horizon.

I'll try another link.

Here is the manufacturer page:

http://www.vartex.be/C%20&%20L%20Suzuki.htm

I am not sure to get the one marked: Intruder M800 / M50 (2006) (4th one down on page)

Or the one marked: Suzuki VL800 Intruder Intruder C800 (volusia) / Boulevard , Intruder M800 (2005) (5th one down on page)

I sent Bigears a private message, and he told me the 5th one down the page, this one:

http://www.vartex.be/Suzuki%20VL%20800.htm

Confused...

Hopefully this will resolve the questions.

Sorry, messed that up. I've ordered the fourth deanwvu - M800/M50 2006. I like the slant look of that model. I'd be happy with either though. I'm getting a bit nervous now about what is going to finally arrive. It is a neat setup. Thanks for your help big ears.

Aussie, you didnt mess anything up. Perhaps both will work just fine, let me know when you find out! ACtually, if those mount up fine, snap some pics, I'd love to see them both.

I think I would like the slant look better too... though the bags Bigears used have a 52L capacity, while the slants are at 38L!

Dunno if the slants are the same ones the distributor sent out the first two times - Marauder bags that didn't fit. It is possible that there are multiple slants around I 'spose.

Stopped in at the supermarket on the way home, used all 104L capacity and bungeed a slab of beer to the pillion seat! I wouldn't be without the bags now.

I really like those bags. Did you get them in Australia or from the states. Any more info would be appreciated. Also did you use the M50 bag supports. Sorry for all the questions !

The bags are made in Holland and imported to Australia by a local distributor. The same would apply, I presume, in the US, Canada etc. You can only use the support bars supplied by K-Drive, as they are designed to accommodate the key-locking device that is attached to the bags themselves. You will note on the pics put up by bigears that there is a cross bar across the top of the chrome support bars. This is where the bags lock on to the support bars. Without that, there is nothing to hold the bags on to the bars. It all comes as a kit, inc bags, bars and bolts. Right so far big ears?

Bought 'em in Australia. The Manufacturer is at www.vartex.be , you'll need to look up the Kanuk distributor. Not a single thing wrong with them, excellent.

If I was to ride with no helmet I would suffer enormous drag problems!

Can't take teasing to heart or it'll ruin your outlook.
