Default Handlebars for M50

Has any of our female riders on the M50 had to change out the bars or the seat to have a better reach? If so, what bars or seat did you go with. I'm having back pain on long rides due to the long reach.

Before you go to the expense and hassle of different handlebars, check out this backrest. It will allow you to sit a little further forward in the seat and it provides great back support. I love mine. I originally bought it to use only for long trips but now I use it everyday. Well worth the price and the install is a snap.

have you thought about loosening up the riser caps and tilting the bars back?

i tried that and the elbows on the throttle will hit the tank before full lock out. you could probably try maybe beachbars or something like that. they have a lot of pull back. some types of dragbars are v shaped which also may work. i ordered a set of 40" dragbars and will install them within a week or two. with a little rerouting you may not need to replace cables depending on the bar size. for those of you that want the picture thing i will take them after i install the bars......

Will C50 bars work?
I seem to recall they come back further, don't they?

I think you need to take one for the team and get out there right now and change those bars, we're all counting on you!!!!!!

I did try to switch bars before the Dragon, but I would have had to replace the cables. Not ready to spend for that yet. Check with a custom shop and get their opinion. There are a ton of bars out there, find someone knowledgable about the width, rise, pullback, etc that you want. Sit on the bike and show them where you want your hands to be, and let them obtain the measurements. Unfortunately, you may need to re-cable to avoid too much stress on the throttle cable.

Also, try looking into riser extensions. You may find something available that would give you an extra couple of inches to rotate the bars back without hitting the tank.

Edit: just noticed your location. If you need someone good, come up here to Melbourne and hook up with Butch at FunKing Cycles. He knows his stuff and will treat you right. He's the one that originally helped with my bars.

Flanders "Beach" bars #650-08511 from WWW.Flandersco.com will fit with some modification. I went through three sets of bars before I found just the right fit with enough pull back to improve the reach problem. The Beach bars are the same type that is on the M50 but you can order different sizes. The cables and wiring on the M50 limit the amount of pull back, height and width of any replacement bars. This set of bars have 3.5" of height (same as stock) pull back of 10.25 inches, and width of 32.5 inches. I still had to cut one inch off the ends of the bar to keep from stretching the cables and hoses too much. This made a big difference in riding comfort. You might also consider a drivers back rest from Lonnie(bf4cm28@yahoo.com) The mounting bracket can be bent slightly to position you closer to the handle bars. I hope this helps. J.Sam

I have looked at the C50 bar setup online and the riser on the C50 is more straight up an down and the bars pull back farther. On the M50 the risers are tilted back farther and the bars are straighter across so in theory if you put the bars from the C50 on the M50 they should set back about 1 to 2.5 inches farther back. I don't know about clearance but it should be OK. I have thought about doing this myself beacuse I would like the bars to come back about 1.5-2 inches. I am going to check it out as soon as I can get to a dealer.

I'm looking at the Baron Customs Star Bar. It looks like it will provide 2 in more pull back but other wise be very similar to the stock bar.

J&P Cycles - Motorcycle exhausts, seats, mirrors, and more

The knurling won't macth up to the riser, but the speedo will cover it.

I went to the dealer and indeed the C50 bars set back farther. So it should give a setback with the M50 risers of 2-3 inches. They may be wider
$75.00 at Oneida Suzuki online.
