Exclamation Big Problem!

I was on my way home, heard this god awful noise when I pulled in the clutch at stop light, let out clutch throttled up noise stops, I notice headlight not shinning in vehicle in front of me, high beam indicator not working. I turn bike off (no other vehicle around) I turn the kill switch on the bike fires up! I make it home turn bike off, hit kill switch same thing bike starts, call the dealer and service is like it does what? Have to drop off friday for them to fix.

I was calling today anyway to set appointment for recall (which just may be the problem because the engine sounds fine) I have over 9,000 miles on my bike thus far hope they can get it fixed soon.

Could be but that may have to do with the wiring harness problem, would that make it have the loud fan like noise when I pull in the clutch?

I had a failure due to the recall. It did not present itself with the symptoms that you are describing.

I rode it to work with out issue. Got on it to leave a tthe end of the day, Turned the key and....

Nothing. No power what-so-ever. No odometer, no fuel pump, no indicator LEDs, no headlight. I tried push starting it, figureing the battery died. Didn't work. Pulled the seat off, tested the battery and had 14Volts, definately good. I figure it was the recall item that failed since this is one of the symptoms listed in the letter I recieved.

Took it to the stealer on Friday morning, they said they would have an ansrew for me within an hour. 4:30pm they call and sayt that the problem was due to the recall item, and they would have to order the part, but it was too late to order it that day. Saturday, I get a call saying that the part is back-ordered from Suzuki, and they don't know when they will be able to get it in. Monday they speak with sombody at Suzuki, and get a different part number, which isn't backordered. They proceed to have it shipped ground, after I inform them that this is my primary mode of transportation.

They get the part in, and it isn't the correct part. IT was only the ignition switch, not the whole kit which replaces all the keyed items on the bike. THey order the correct part, ground again. They say they can have another one shipped overnight for $50. I decided to wait since I was about to go out of town.
I come home and it is all better, after 3 weeks without a bike.
I was just happy that I wasn't the other guy how picked up his M50 at the same time as me. He had the same failure. When he went to drive away, his bike died, and would not restart.

Bad Stealer, Bad.

I had the same problem last night on mine. Stopped a my destination and heard the loud fan type noise when I pulled in the clutch. Shut the engine off and thought for a minute, turned the switch on and pulled in the clutch and it started........(I did not touch the starter switch). One of my buddies their road a Harley and told me the starter was still engaged even after it started, so I shut it off and tried it again and it done the same thing.......Then I looked at the starter switch on the handle bars, and sure enough it was stuck in !!!!!!. Pushed it in a few times and it became unstuck and everything was fine......."Check your starter switch". Hope this helps

I don't think the headlight is in with the switch problem, however that is an electrical problem (and you never know with electrical problems).

Let me know thru a PM if it worked or not.

Does the headlight still not work? It would make sense that it would not work while the starter switch was stuck due to the headlight cut-out circuit, but if it's still not working.. Maybe that circuit got fried from the constant juice?

I was thinking of all this today when I stopped by the dealer. Asked if they had any recall info on the M50 electrical, and they checked the VIN list. Sure enough, mine was on the list needing harness re-routing and inspection. The work was completed in 15 minutes, and the harness was in the "bad" position... Hope I saved myself from having these problems developing down the road at some unfortunate time and place... I never received any letter from Suzuki alerting me to this, kind of crappy of them....

I saved myself the time and frustration with the stealer and just did it myself.
Its easy to do. Someone else has shown pics how to do it.

Glad to hear that was the problem. This forum is always there to help.

I never got a recall leter on my C50, turns out the dealer did not complete the paper work involving Suzuki.
I had my service dept. at another dealer do it when they did the recall service without me asking.

That is why I am with Langley Holeshot Racing.

If I have no bike for 3 weeks I will probably go ape-5hit. My bike is potentially dead with that problem.

At least you don't have the C90 and 1500LC recall to deal with. Thousands of those bikes have been out of service for 30-80 days. With still no permanent fix.
