| I went out to start the bike yesterday and the battery was dead. The key was out so no lights where on . The kill switch was set to run. I used the key to stop the engine Does leaving the switch on allow any current to leak through the bike even with the key removed? Thanks

| Nope unless.. did you lock the handlebars? The Park position is just beside the Lock position on my SV, and it happened to me once that I accidentallypu the biuke to Park instead of just Lock.

| I find that the "park" position is the one that is the furthest when the key is turned counterclockwise. The key can still be removed, but the tail light will still be illuminated. As a result, I always check the tail light after I dismount my M50. If the tail light is still lit, I would put the key back in the ignition, turn it a bit clockwise, remove the key, then check the tail light to ensure it's not lit. My point: depending on how long you have not ridden your bike, the tail light, if it remained lit, may have drained your battery. Are you sure no lights were lit the last time you got off your bike?

My only difference is I don't remove the key until I verify that the light isn't on. Luckily, the only time that I accidently put it to "park", I had just gotten off the bike and saw the back end lit up..

| Newbie | yeah the parking lamp thing got me a few times, I park mine in a garage now so i leave the bike in neutral with the switch set to on so as soon as i turn the key the fuel pump kicks on and I start it right up every time. The garage is nice because if any lights are on it will be really obvious.
