Default M50 and road trips

I am really wanting to take some road trips this summer. Not real long ones but maybe up to 8 hours aways. I am having second thoughts about my M50 and thinking I may should have gotten a bike with more cc's. Maybe something at least 1400 cc. Has anyone taken road trips on the M and how did it do?

You dont need a 1400 to take long road trips. I've been on an 8 hr ride, in segments obviously, and the bike does fine. Maybe if you're a big fella and riding two up with lots of gear you might have to down shift here and there, but the 800 does its job and then some. Might want to invest in some sort of butt pad, but a 1400 wouldnt solve that. Just because its not the fastest bike off the line doesnt mean it wont go 70-80 mph and keep itself cool.

Longest trip I've done was 600 miles and that was stopping little as possible and all highway. I really didn't have any problem, even though the M50 is just light enough to make me wanna pass big rigs quick or let them pass me.

Todd, On your trip how long can you ride using the standard seats and still be comfortable? Thanks.

I'm a "big fella" and have done 480 miles in 1 day 2 up. We rode across the Smokey mountains and Cherokee national forest, mostly mountains and 2 lane roads. Tired but no complaints about the bike. The lady walked a little funny for awhile but it was a great day trip.
