Default New bags for my M

Hello All

After looking at the Suzuki Saddlebags @ $550AUS I decided to look around at what else there was to be had.

I ended up looking at some bags that had been sitting in a shop for years because they were $480, when I asked about them the shop owner said they were from the US and he wasn’t going to bring them into the country anymore because the Chinese bags where just too much cheaper at $220. I look at them and they were close to the Suzuki bags in style, but they were just to plain, so I had a really good look at the US type. He said that he would give me 30% off of the US type and at $320 I decided that was the way to go. I think they have just the right amount of silver and the extra stitching really sets them off. I also got a new pair of quilted cold and wet weather pants and a new cover. All up I walked out very happy with a total cost of $520AUS.

I haven’t got the bag racks and I don’t think I really need them. What experiences have others had with or without using them?

The quick releases made me nervous so I drilled out the centre twist release (tongue) so that a small lock can go through it, problem solved

Next week I get the engine guards, cant wait!

Cheers

Those look very nice, compliments the bike well. Excellent idea also about placing the lock on the twist release.

Thanks Blazn.
I found out one thing that happens without the bag racks. With nothing in them they "float"! I had one empty one end up on the seat behing me when I gunned it. Kind of funny really. I guess I need something in them to weigh them down a bit.

The bags look great, I have throw overs and they work out fine. racks would just be a pain if your riding without bags racks take away from the look of the M50.

Nice Bags Djump, the strap looks like it hangs a little low?? Getting a little cool in Adelzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaide to be riding?? We have great riding weather here in the Alice.

Rockhead, Cyclone Monica cut inland this morning and missed Darwin, it will dump alot of rain and shouldn't cause to much damage.

Thanks Guy's

Those straps are just sitting on top of the pipes but the rest of the bag is well clear, I'm not to concerned. I was thinking about taking them up higher but they seem OK for now. I will try to keep something in the bags to weigh them down and bulk them out which keeps them away from the tyre. I to just hate the look of those bits of wire rod that are left when yout take your bags off if your have the rack system installed. Pick up my engine guards tomorrow

The temp is starting to come down in the south. Nothing to dramatic, just cool at night or in the shade of the hills and so you need to dress for it. After reading all the post about how everyone in the Top of the Northern Hemisphere need to lay up their bikes for winter "I no complain"! Of course in the Alice its always great bike weather, but we got better roads

Oh yeah about the big blow, yep, it missed
