Default M50 tail and driving light modifications

Attatching some pix of my modifications to the tail light / license bracket and the addition of some driving lights. I added an LED license plate holder to the rear, lights up the plate nicely and ties in with the LED turn signals, and added a switch under the gas tank to turn on the Ultra White driving lights when needed. Really happy with the outcome. What's everyone think?

Not speaking for BlaznBlu50, but Cruiser Customizing lists parts that look like what he installed :

Here are the links to them:

Chrome Cast or a Billet model

Also, Custom Dynamics has their own versions here, all on the same page.

I like what he did on the tail...and a reviewer on CC's site (the chrome cast page) pointed out the extra brightness he got, combined with some version of run/turn/brake controller, so the back of his bike is brighter. Always a bonus!

I'm curious about what he did to mount up the driving lights up under the triple tree...but it's sharp Blazn'!

Thanks. The license plate holder is from Custom Dynamics, #8201-52.

I TOLD you it was Custom Dynamics!! ( Okay, maybe not!)

Blazn'- what LED bulbs are you running in your signal lights? And do you have pics of how you mounted up the driving light pair/switch?

I used the chrome amber bulbs from Clear Alternatives (1157 & 1156) for the turn signals.

Here are some photos of the driving lights and the switch.

The lights came with a mounting bracket, I just drilled it out some and used 5/16 bolts to secure to existing holes in the triple tree.

I just modified a 1/4" piece of aluminum and attatched to frame with zip ties. Holds fine, used it multiple times this past week without problem. With the tank in place, you can't even see it. But it is very easy to reach and turn on, placed it beside my left knee.

Very sharp, Blazn', thanks!

Stupid question, but did that switch come with the driving light kit? Where did you get them?

Thanks for the additional pics/info! I've been mulling different running light options, and your route seems pretty good.

A switch came with the kit, but I bought a new one at Wal-Mart of all places!

I bought the lights at AutoZone for around $30. They really light up well, and I like the look of the black casing. Also, in the daylight, the sun really reflects nicely off of the lens, don't even need to turn them on. Looks blue from the sides, silver from the front.

Excellent!

As for turn signal bulbs, I have some 32-LED bulbs from Autolumination, and I'm awaiting my Priority Lites controller from XtremeDave (should be here Monday or so)- the red LEDs seem to be pretty bright even in daylight, so when they're running lights added to your plate conversion, that would really liven up the tail...great work!

Thanks tons Blazn'!!

Nice work! I really like those driving lights. Do you have the part number? If I walked in to the AutoZone down the street and asked for something without providing all of the information all I would get would be the deer-in-the-headlights-look.

The driving lights are called Blazer Ultra White, model # UW3675, bought from AutoZone. They are halogen fog lights. I did use a smaller toggle switch instead of what came with it. I also considered a waterproof switch, but after speaking with the guys at the boat supply place, we felt that it would be okay since it is mounted under the tank and was painted with liquid electrical tape at the connections.

Can you get a pic of the front further away from the bike? I like how they look up close, but would like to see the whole picture. Thanks

Hi tequila,
I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, got home too late today. I have also added a HellCat windshield and a Lindby engine guard, which I think looks sharp as well as being more useful than the Suzuki guard. I'll post those pics as well.

Sorry it took a few days to get these pictures up, been busy lately.

As you can see, I added Stiletto grips and pegs, the Lindby engine guards, a HellCat windshield, a drivers backrest, and driving lights. The license plate/taillight assembly has been modified as well. I have also de-baffled the tail pipes.

Next step: debadging, then paint!

Love the lights. This may be a stupid question, but where did you ground the driving lights?
