Default Going on a "memorial ride" tomorrow...

We found out one of our buddies at work has lung cancer. He was originally told about 2 weeks ago...they said he had about 5 years to live. Naturally he wanted a second opinion, so he went to Cancer Treatment Center of America, hoping for better news....instead they say he has about 9 months to a year left....man, what a shocker....they agreed to administer chemo and radiation, on the off chance that it would extend his life expectancy...anyway, he is a Harley rider, as are the majority of guys at work. They organized a ride for tomorrow, with him as the leader. It will be a short one, about 120 miles round trip, but it's the reason we're going, not how far we're going. Most of us realize it may be the last time we can all ride together, since he is already on short term disability from work and will not return to his job. I am designated "camera man" and will be taking tons of pics....when I get them all loaded onto the PC I'll post a couple here....for those that pray please do so for our bud....

My prayers and thoughts are with your friend and his family. many people have been told they only have a short time left due to cancer but have lived on for many years. I hope this will be the case with your friend.
God Bless.

All the best for your friend and his family. I'll be thinking of you guys when I ride tomorrow.
I'm a firm believer in the power of positive thinking, and have personally seen some remarkable things in my years in medicine. If you don't mind, please recommend some readings by Norman Cousins and Norman Vincent Peale for your friend.

Thanks for the kind words guys....I'm really excited about hanging out with these guys outside of work....(even though I am calling in sick, lol). I'm 33 and will be the youngest of the group and had some reservations about being on a metric. They all assured me that the whole hog/metric thing is BS when it's fun we're really after...they are right....there will be at least two other metrics so if it comes to a brawl at least I won't be solo, lol....anyway, thanks again for the words of encouragement!!!

Chadrob, Guess I echo the thoughts expressed by Hammersfan and Blaznblu, offer prayers and thoughts of support certainly, yet hope the man is strong enough, angry enough or fervent enough to do the mind over matter thing. Some cures have been effected that stump the medicos. Hope this is the case for your bud.

Enjoy the ride! Forget the crap about Harley and Metrics for the day! Your friend is the reason for the season! Take plenty of pictures with him and his buddies.

Well, that was a real fun ride....about 130 miles of some great scenery...unfortunatley my PC took a dump but as soon as it's running again I'll post the pics....it was real nice watching him pull up on his Hog painted red with yella flames and matching helmet...he was in very good spirits, and talked about his various treatments like it was no big deal....at least mentally he is prepared for the inevitable.

You know, seeing those pictures of your friend with that smile on his face has made my day!

Thank you for keeping us in touch with things, and especially for posting those pics. If anyone can have a proper outlook to deal with such a harsh disease, it seems as if your friend does.

Wishing him all the best.
