Default Dyno tune and 1/4 mile

We have a motorcycle tuner down the road who will dyno tune a powercommander as well as before and after charts for $180. How does this rate sound? I will also be going to the track in the next few months to finalize the debate on whether the M50 can do 13.5 with mods and skinny dude. I weight 160lbs.

That rate seems reasonable, but I have never priced a dyno tune. You could probably sell the PC map. It will be interesting to see what kind of gains you actually get.

What are your mods?

It's a great price. Average around here is $250.

I actually just got the bike, but I'm getting the Jardine 2-1 megaphone exhaust, thunder tear drop intake and power commander for more power and the arlen ness upswept mirrors and clear lens covers for looks. Thanks for the price check, I was hoping that is fair. After I get these installed and tuned, I'll head to the 1/4 mile track about an hour away. The M50 is no sport bike but still fun to mess with.

That's funny, I will be doing the same, going down in June to try out the 1/4 mile run.

I would think any one with the same mods would be more than willing to chip in onthe dyno tuning !!!!!!!!!
I know if i was using the same set up i would throw you a few bucks to share in the welth that you will recive from the tuning !!!

Doesn't elevation affect tuning? I live in Calgary at over 3500 feet (over 4000 feet at my house west of the city). There isn't as much air here. I am sure the same mods in florida would be a different tune in Denver. Thats why the universal maps on PC's site seem dodgy to me.

Edit: Also the reason why most run lean from factory and I think I'm rich from the factory (get a puff of black smoke on a hard accel.)

I actually found someone about an hour away who can use the yosh box to tune the ecu with or without a dyno, so I'm going that route. It will cost $200 for tune and runs but will save me $250 overall since there will be no need to buy a pcIII. I'm just needing the damn thunder intake. My exhaust is in the mail. What has been the wait as of late for thunder adapters? Are any retailers faster than others, regardless of price? Thanks.

I've been waiting over a month for the hypercharge (actually for the adapter for the hypercharger), and still no sign of it coming anytime soon. But that's OK since my Cobra Fi2000r is screwed up.

Damn, that's what I keep reading and was afraid of. Extreme Dave says he has been told by Thunder next week for over a month.

Yeah, that's who I've been going thru, Dave.

I also emailed Thunder about the continuous backorders. They replied saying that the part is outsourced and that they have no control on when it is to be manufactured. Then he said that it was on the machine and would be shipped next week. I replied to his email saying that I didn't believe him, that that is what I've been hearing for over a month. I also said that he should have control over when the parts are manufactured by putting in the orders and saying when you need them. I do have an MBA and I am a CPA, so I know one or two things about business. It's just very frustrating when I was expecting to have the hypercharger before the Cruzers, and the Cruzers have been on the bike for two weeks now.

Is 20304A the right part number for the thunder adapter kit?

Yes.....it's 20304A for the air kits.

And it's 40304A for the hypercharger adapter.

Or better yet, maybe Thunder should outsource elsewhere! I too have been waiting since end of February for mine. This is the last remaining performance upgrade that I'm waiting on before I go get the whole thing dyno'd and the PCIII remapped.

During Bike Week in Daytona I went to the K & N booth at the track to get a replacement air filter model number for my Thunder tear drop filter. I saw the exact filter body there with the K&N logo on it. Rep said that was for a HD but was the same as mine since K&N out sources to THUNDER, Hmmm I wonder where the chain stops ?

Pending all goes as planned, I'll be at the track to put the good ol' M to the test on the 1/4 mile the 14th of May. It's not going to post blazing speeds but I'm curious to see what it'll do. I'm starting to think I'll be in the 13.5-13.8 range depending on how well these bikes can be tuned with my thunder intake and jardine 2-1.
