Default Saddlebag Recommendations for M50

My XMAS present this year are saddlebags. I have looked at a number of them on both customcruiser site and oneida. Anyone have any opinion on this? I don't particularly like the buckle confiquration. Also what bags hold their shape the best. Ventura makes a interesting system, although they are not sidebags, but mounted on top of the fender. Good for long hauls, but I looking for bags to use on weekends and fairly close in my area. Just thought to ask. Thanks.

I went for the C50 twin buckle OEM bags with the rigid M50 mounting. This is my first cruiser and surfed alot of sites to get the bags that thought looked best, the only downside is that the bags are synthetic leather and would of prefered genuine leather but i never found any that suited the rear duck tail of the M50. These bags are rigid mounting with only 2 bolts holds the bags in place so removal and refit is easy and there is plenty of room in each bag. There is a problem with the rear indicators hitting the bags and i have twisted the indicators to point down to get clearance but i plan on removing the indicators totally soon for LED. You also loose your helmet lock which is just another refit. Good luck with your selection Big red.

Thanks Toolboy. Good info on those bags. I may look further. I want either real leather or hardbags. The OEM price is good though. $240.00 plus the cost of the bracket isn't bad. I'll post pics once I get whatever I settle on.

I've been looking alot as well and synthetic lether seems to hold its rigitity(sp) better from what I've read. I'm also torn because I want something that will attach and come off easy without leaving ugly brackets behind.
I'll proabably end up going with these, but not sure.

Teach have a look at this company. A guy at my local shop swears by them. If used for trips you can simply unhook them from the bike and take them with you vice either having to dig things out or keep a close on eye on the bike for fear of vandals. Not a bad price either. Some say more aerodynamic as well since the load is behind you vice on either side. Just another alterntive. http://www.ventura-bike.com/

Check out Chillhowee.com. I bought my leather jacket, gloves, boots, saddlebags and ghost brackets. They say the brackets only fit the C50, but all you need are longer fender bolts closest to the tank.

I have a tombstone bag right now and love it (The back support is niiiiiice). It's easy to take off and put back on; however, just that won't be up to par for longer rides.
