Congrats on the bike. Just got mine as well. Rode past a porch party and everyone turned to look. Lesson #11 - The grass IS greener on the other side of the fence.

It's got that 80's TopGun look about, like he's Goose, sitting on the beach between volleyball games. Sorry Trap. It's a nice photo, really.

Funny stuff! With this being my first ever bike...I'm not into all of the "bling"...yet. One of my wife's fellow cohorts' husband just bought a Softtail Deuce and told her how much they had to get a loan for...even AFTER a sizeable down payment. She then said that he got new pipes, this, and that...
I told my wife, "oh, I won't be doing any of that to my bike". Even SHE laughed at me and said, "it's just your first bike. I'm sure you'll want to move up before long...and with that comes accesories".
Even my WIFE doesn't believe me.

I'm the same way with my guitars I have. I've had two guitars for years, and many people will take bumper stickers and put them on their guitar or cases. I can't do that!!! It's got to be the way it was when I got it.

Those flame grips do look nice, however...

Those are nice, but not the type I was thinking of. I'll see if I can find a pic of them.
I'm at 130 miles, but ready to add more. That's just two days riding. Sixty-five miles a day isn't too bad for a "newbie". It's getting ready to get cold/rainy here, though, so sad days are nigh.

Here's a pic of them...but I'm afraid they're just Harley Davidson grips. Oh well. I'll be alright with the ones I currently have. Heaven forbid I "accessorize" too soon.

My boss has the Kuryakin flame grips on his Sportster and loves them. I had the more plain Kuryakin on my old Shadow and loved them, they really reduced vibrations to nothing as well as looking cool.

You makes your money, so you spends it how you likes, but I would suggest going with some really good gear, prior to superfluous shiny bits. You know rain gear, cold weather stuff, etc...

Yeah, great gear is definitely on the list before any "shinies". I need a newer, better jacket and some rain gear (maybe pick up a Mesh jacket for summer, if they're on sale).
Since this is my first bike, I'm not quite into all of the "bling" yet. Sure, there are things I like the looks of, but right now...I'm not going to add anything...I swear...get that catalog away from me! Stop it!!!

Nope! It's in '05. It's probably the way the sun was behind the clouds in those pics. Some angles it's blue, others it's the "blurple" you mentioned. I had an '93 Probe GT that was similar...one angle it was blue, the other angle it was a teal-green. The cool thing was, it was factory paint...not one of those "cameleon" paint jobs that cost an arm and a leg.
