I upgraded my OEM headlamp bulb to the Sylvania SilverStar H4ST. It is a true white light and will eliminate the yellowish color from a typical halogen bulb. There are other similar bulbs available; this is just what I chose to use. Here is a quick how-to with attached pics for those who'd like to know. The pics are in order and show the low and high beam before and after: Parts Suggested: - Sylvania SilverStar H4ST Motorcycle Headlamp Bulb (or equivalent) ** Note: Halogen bulbs are very sensitive to grease and oils from your fingers. Do not handle the bulbs by the glass! The heat generated by the light will superheat the oil and the bulb will most likely burst and fail. Wear clean gloves and gently wipe the new bulb with a clean rag prior to install. ** Tools Suggested: - 4mm Hex Wrench - Clean Latex/Nitronal Gloves - Clean Cloth Bulb Removal: 1. Using the 4mm hex wrench, remove the two bolts located on the lower sides of the headlamp housing. 2. From the bottom of the headlamp housing, pull the assembly slightly outward (toward the front) and release the top by gently pulling downward. You may have to wiggle the unit a bit; do not be over aggresive. 3. Unclip the headlight bulb plug by pulling straight off. 4. Remove the black rubber dust shield by pulling straight off. 5. Place the headlamp housing on a clean, soft surface lens down. 6. Using your thumb, press the wire lock downward and away from the clip; flip the wire over and remove the bulb. 7. Bulb installation is the reverse of steps 1-6. |
