Default need help (riding boots)

I really like riding and well i am doing a SIN i am riding with regular tennis shoes and not riding with boots. I know this is a big sin. i tried to ride in timberland boots but it did not work out so well, could not shift and well just did not feel comfortable and even on campus my feet started hurting. so i am asking. i ride to school which is 30 miles away would you guys suggest a full race boot or a riding shoe. I notice i only find stuff online so can someone really break it down to me. I have a size 12 foot and well even though i like my gsxr i dont like the shifting area.

Thank you

Yeah that’s a no no, IV seen to many videos were the first thing you see is the shoes flying off. A couple years ago my foot caught the road and the boots did there job. I wouldnt think about going out without them. Check out this site they always has good bargains.

This is close to what I have. I have big calves and have problem finding full boots that fit proper.

I have the same thing happen to me on my 04. I know it's a big no no but I'll admit I ride with mine also. I noticed my AlpineStars don't have this problem though. Also I don't have problems with my hiking boots. So I'd say just get a different set of boots.

I was thinking though..wifey here has an 06...the year you have has adjustable pegs though doesn't it?

Logger Inside Zipper Leather Boots

I have my eye on these boots. Just need to get the right size....I think I wear an 11 in a boot...............size 12 dayum!! I think my brother wears a 12!!!

When I had my Honda Nighthawk, I could only wear tennis shoes, couldn't shift wearing boots......BUT NOW THE TIME IS NEAR...sold the bike, sold the car, did some consolidation and the 2008 C50T will be mine very very SOON!!

Most motorcycle boots are designed with smooth, thin soles to make using the bike's controls easier. If you can get away from the workboot, there are a zillion options.

So far I've ridden with Red Wing safety boots (above the ankle) and some Red Wing safey shoes (below the ankle). The've both worked great, though I do miss the shifter every once in a while with the boots. I'm still looking for something better though.

I got my Harley boots from sportsmansguideonline.com. Most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Oil resistant sole and what normally costs 140 bucks in the store cost 70.

Just like any other riding gear, the best thing you can do is to go into a shop that specialized in motorcycle gear, and try on different boots.

Most shops will have a bike on a stand (or at least a bike frame with a seat, handlebars and foot pegs), so that you can get a feel how the boots will feel when you are sitting in a riding position and move your feet around to shift and brake.

As for the prices, I've gone several seasons with "cheap" leather boots (bought in a supermarket for about $25), but these only last about 1 season. Last year, I "splurged" and bought an "expensive" pair of touring boots (with GoreTex linings, etct.) for about $200.

I've had both of my boots "touch down" around hairpin turns - if I was wearing tennis shoes, I would have broken my foot (it would have twisted my ankle away). Since my boots are designed to protect my feet and ankles, there was a short "pucker", but otherwise no injury caused by these "touch downs".

I was looking at some boots on the Fox Creek site, they may cost more but they sure look good and the quality is there. Unfortunately for me, buying boots on-line would be a bit of a risk as everyone has a different fit.
Maybe I should do a ride there one day and try them on!
