Default Iron Butt Gold

This was on another site, but still intresting. Not for me though, I'm too old for that, my body would really %%%%%. I don't care what you ride, a 62.5 MPH Average for 24 hrs., has to be tough.

"Tara, a Minn-Max member, completed an Iron Butt Association (IBA) Bun-Burner Gold ride on her Suzuki Burgman 650 this past month, by successfully covering 1,500 miles in 24 hours. Two years ago, Tara and her husband Ian together completed an IBA Saddlesore 1000, which is a thousand miles in 24 hours. Tara was on her Burgman, while Ian rode his Honda Silver Wing for that ride.

I think they're both nuts, but congratulations to Tara just the same."

WOW! Very impressive indeed. Now, if any of my fellow M50 riders can accomplish the same feat with the stock seat, I would gladly salute them and shake their hands.

I wouldn't make the time, but the distance isn't hard to do...

I stop for tittie-bars...

+1, especially the choice "resting" locations.

It's only smart to make quality rest stops while riding.

I'll not be doing any Ironbutt rides - I prefer to enjoy the ride and 1000+ miles in 24 hours doesn't fit that bill for me. My butt is not iron.... I do like to read about them though.

is this a test for the Burgman riders only, or can any of us do it? I think it would be fun to try

Hooters- a strip joint for Baptists.

There is one iron butt event that goes all the way to hyder Alaska. Of course, we are used to long trips "outside"- what you guys call an "iron butt" we call a "commute" LOL

1500 miles in 24 hours....even if you spent the WHOLE time in the saddle, that is 62 mph. so considering stops for gas, food, bathroom..etc...you would have to be travelling at least 70 most of the time. and again...that is 24 hours of riding...no sleep or anything!

dale did the 1000 in just under 24 hours a few months ago....thats pretty good in itself. ive heard of 1500 in 36 hours...but not 24!

.

they do have an iron butt of 1500 miles in 24 and it can be done -- I have driven 900 in 13 hours -- so another 6 hundred in 11 hours should be possible

No, he'll be worthy of being called Wood Butt! It takes a lot more intestinal fortitude to ride 900 miles in 13 hours with splinters in his buttocks!

I'm planning on attempting the Saddle Sore 1000/Bun Burner 1500 next spring. If it goes well, will probably try the Bun Burner Gold at a later time in the summer.

You can complete the Saddle Sore 1000 and Bun Burner 1500 in the same ride. 1000 in 24hrs or less 1500 in 36hrs or less. The Bun Burner Gold is 1500 in 24hrs or less....WHEW! That has to be a tough one. For the first two only have to average about 42mph instead of 62.5mph.

These are the 3 easiest rides in IBA. The Bun Burner Gold is an extreme ride. There easiest one at that. Not saying any of them are easy just easier than there other rides listed......

The one ride mentioned in a post above is Key West, Florida to Deadhorse, Alaska in 30 days or less - Ultimate Coast to Coast Extreme. Approximately 5600 miles.

IBA Rides

I'm just going to try them for the challenge. Planning on doing alot of slower paced distance riding next year.

OW OW OW! My kiester is still sore from this weekend. Just when i think the stock seat "isnt that bad" is when my tuckus goes numb. Hopefully someone will come up with a seat improvement before i try my dream ride - PCH from Cali to WA... take US1 all the way up the west coast. But im not going for speed - I want to be able to stop and take pics and "enjoy the ride"
