Default DR 650 SE - CA Model Differences

What are the differences between CA models and other-49 state models on a 2003 Suz DR 650 SE ?

I am sure there are several to limit emissions. How much of a power loss to they cause and what does it take to get it back?

The differences are minor. The tank has an internal filtering unit which takes up a little space affecting your range. Not much, though. As far as power, it is rated the same. I have not ridden the CA model so I can't say for sure. I have had mine up to 95+ on a safe straightaway and I think the CA model should do the same. That's more than enough for the kind of riding most folks do with this type of bike. Mods for this bike do not appreciably increase performance and generally decrease your range (MPG). It is well suited for it's role from the factory.

Suggestions: Taking a long ride (100+ miles) may require a seat change. The stock seat equates to a 2X4. There is quite a bit of wind buffeting on the highway. There are good aftermarket windshields available. Check out these sites for answers:
