Default New owner--K5 DL 1000

That would be me! What a fun bike. Picked up the blue beauty in Jacksonville and rode it home to Ormond Beach last Wednesday. Great ride! I may have bumped 5,000 RPMs a couple of times, so don't
tell Suzuki! I've been really interested in the DL 1000 since it came out in 2002, and now I'm lucky enough to finally own one.

I'm not new to motorcycling (been riding about 30 years) but this is the first new Japanese bike I've owned since the early 80's. And my, how things change. . . and how they stay the same.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to many happy miles on it. And to the knowledge and experience from you long time Stromers.

Welcome, Larry L! I was just down in your neck of the woods last week! My sister and BIL live in New Smyrna Beach!!!! We went to the Volusia County Fair while there. It was cool!!!! I love visiting that area. Flew in and out of Jax, wish I'd seen your 'Strom out on 95!

I've had a "Wee-Strom" (the 650) since August, and have been totally thrilled with it. It's almost like a bike that works to please you! As I'm gaining experience, it also has a lot of "growing room". I would expect the 1000 to have even more, so think you'll be way happy with it.

Mine is also blue. I call it "The Blue Meanie". And Blue Beastie. And Blue Bessy sometimes, when noone's around. I'm more fond of it than a person should be, with it being only a machine. But I love its shiny, bright blueness!

Any help you want, just ask. You bought a great bike!

Thanks, Laurie! New Smyrna is a nice area. Glad you had fun at the fair.

Saturday the weather was as gorgeous as it can be here this time of year--low eighties and sunny. So I put about a 100 miles on my new ride. I'm really impressed with it. But, it's hard keeping the revs down to the break-in limits--it pulls really well!

How do you like Virginia? I went to high school in Alexandria, then college and grad school there as well.

Ride safe!

Hey again, Larry! I love Virginia, it's a neat blend of just about everything I want, and I'm on the coast, so the winters are mild. I was out riding all day Saturday (MY FIRST GROUP RIDE!!!! Boy was it fun!!!!!!), and it was really good riding weather. I was with 3 other riders all way, way better than me, so I learned a lot. The bike did great, it stayed right up there with 3 bikes that were all a lot more expensive, more powerful, and more high-performance. The rider, not so much. But I did okay, and I'm way happy with how the bike did. I'm somewhat trainable, but the bike is what it is.

I think you'll continue to be pleased. I got my Givi screen on it, and it is just about perfection, now!
