| I was thinking of swapping mine out with the DL1000 seat for the added height. Sounds like they're interchangeable. Although I haven't heard how it rides after a 100 miles.

| Some people really like the Corbin seats (www.corbin.com). They are a little pricey but offer backrests etc. I don't own one so I can't vouch for their comfort.

| I've done over 100 miles on my stock DL650 seat, and it seems okay to me. I'm going to add a beaded seat to mine, both for riding in rain, and also to cool my hot buns a little (my riding pants are way warm). I figure it'll really give the bike a classy look, too I'm doing a 200 mile ride next week, so we'll see how it goes!

| Man, that Corbin seat looks sweet. Although it looks like the seat height is 32" which is slightly lower than the stock DL650 seat (32.3"). I guess it would be perfect you had a DL1000 (seat at 33.1) and wanted to drop the seat height down. Still looking to raise my seat up at this point. -Sparrow |

| I have the DL1000 seat on my DL650. I'm on my tip toes. I got a Corbin and it is basically the same height as the DL650 seat----I am on the balls of my feet. It was the cheapest seat I could find in aftermarket. I'd like to try a Russell, but don't know anyone who has one and they are REALLY expensive; plus you have to send them your stock seat for them to rebuild. |

| Bought my 650 V-Strom in red on 7/12/05. Had my share of a lot of different mounts, but this one sits like a BMW R1150RT. If you have not put at least 1,000 miles on your bike, then don't think about swapping out the seat just yet... you should break it in a bit more. Just my humble opinion. At first ride mine seemed a bit stiff, but even after only 200 miles I can tell it's trying to mold to me a bit already. Suzuki does offer a Gel seat, and remarkably enough it's the cheapest replacement seat I have seen (@ $165.00) . Also, it's a HELL of a lot cheaper to take your seat to an upholsterer and have it refit! They do it cheap... most times for $60-$80 and use better foam than you have on the stock seat. They can make it taller, shorter, shave it anyway you want it. Sparrow, Suzuki makes a tall seat for the 650. Stan... Last edited by Wabbit44; 07-16-2005 at 03:46 PM. Reason: Addition |

| Replaced the OE seat 12K miles ago......Night and day difference for me. Stock seat = MonkeyButt @ 250-300 miles. Gel Seat = 600+ mile days EZ.

| Some of the more well known custom seat builders are as follows: Rick Mayer http://www.homestead.com/prosites-rmcycle/ Bill Mayer http://billmayersaddles.com/october25homepage.html Sergeant Cycle http://www.sargentcycle.com/prodover.htm Russell Day Long Custom Seats http://www.day-long.com/ Corbin http://www.corbin.com/ When I had my F650GS, I was seriously considering a seat from Rick Mayer, as he works as a critical care nurse and makes seats/padding for bed or wheelchair bound patients. So, in my opinion, the guy has to have some serious knowledge about the types of foams, gel pads, etc. for making a comfortable long distance seat. However, I discovered that a cheap investment in a Sheepy Hollows wool seat cover made my seat downright comfortable for long distance trips. I did a 900+ mile trip once using this sheepskin cover, and had no significant problems (considering the mileage). I think there is a company called Alaska Leather that also makes a sheepskin cover. If you want to go cheap, this might be an option for you. Can't remember the exact price, but I think it cost me around $30 (it's been awhile now). |
