Default Thanks Uncle Bob

OK, how many touring and/or adventure touring members are there out there? I have had my V-Strom for 5 weeks (it has rained 4 of them) and have it setup for touring. Revpack tankbag, Givi cases (E36's) 3 of them plus a Nelson-Rigg tailpack for work duty. Lake Superior circle tour planned for July 4th week. Hope to put lots of miles on this summer(rain or shine.

Hi,
I have had my 2003 V-Strom for about 10 days, so far have enjoyed it. Went on a 450 mile pleasure trip this last Sunday and it was very comfirtable but I will have to do something about the buffeting and noise from the windshield! My ears rang for hours after even though I wear earplugs.

One stretch of road was real buppy and curvy with a posted 45 mph because of the road surface condition but the v-strom roared over it at 70+ mph with no problems thanks to its long travel suspension.

I believe a taller windshield is available.

I don't know if I could be called a touring rider or not, as I haven't done an overnight in years. Still, I like to go the distance on day rides, having racked up about 5 grand in just over two months on my Scooter.

I'm itching to do an Iron Butt ride soon (though my wife has a very different opinion about how I should spend that day).

Default VStrom info

Hi,
I am new to this forum, and am interested in the VStrom 1000, so I would like to hear as much as possible from all of you out there who have one.

I just came from a dealer who had one on his showroom floor, and it's the first I've seen other than in the bike mags.

I'm interested in things such as handling, weight, actually about anything that relates to a good or bad riding experience. After sitting on the bike, I could tell that it was taller than most other standards; has that been a problem for anyone in day to day use?

Thanks for any and all input...

Ride safe...

Did 487 miles this weekend going and returning from Road America to see the Suzuki Double Header. First time for a road racing event. Let me tell you - it was awesome. The Road America race is on my schedule for every year from now on. The V-Strom is a great touring bike. I took 2 Givi E36 bags plus a tank bag. Handled great with the big bags. And she can hold her own with most bikes you meet on the road.

Do I qualify to post here riding a gixxer 1000 if I do 400 and 500 mile days? Hey it's my version of a touring bike with soft luggage!

My bike is much faster than I will ever be!
To busy riding and preparing for rides to snoop around through everything new! But I have all day today, so I'll get caught up. Thanks for the touring spot!

The best part about having a bike is getting out and exploring new country regardless of what type of bike. I am amazed at riders that can continuually ride around the city. For me that gets boring real fast. Pick a new destination every weekend and RIDE.

Exactly. It's hot here this week, like 104 degrees. So I think I'll go north this weekend, near the coast, but using the single lane backroads to the San Francisco area and back to Los Angeles. Should be a nice little putt for a day!
