| Finally got all my stuff on the bike (05 S50) in preperation for my indiana to wyoming trip. Shield, saddlebags, cruise control, sheepskin buttpads. My g/f and I took a day trip into michigan for the shakedown run. 80% of it was interstate and 7 hours later we still didn't really want to come home (it was actually 13 hours later before we did). The next day we headed into illinois for another great day. The bike works great! Stayed between 70 and 80mph and it was perfect. Tracks really well and wind buffeting is minimal. Passing power is awesome and it's easy to get away from cars acting stupid. Still a bit rough over bad parts in the roads, but as soon as I can get some better rear shocks i'm hopeing i can make that go away. state refrigerator magnets are becoming my badge of honors (got 14 so far)! Year after next we're going to newfoundland. Touring on an intruder is very cool indeed! The only changes I've made to date are: 1. Sissy bar (had them put it on when I got the bike) 2. National Cycle Street shield 3. Sheep skin seat covers 4. Cruise Control (throttle lock) 5. Saddleman cruiser bags (want hardbags in the future) Other then that It's stock. I averaged 55mpg going to illinois on a 321 mile ride. Things I plan to add in the future are: 1. 12v plug in for a stereo & communication 2. Springs and shocks with better dampening 3. highway bars Things I may add in the future are: 1. Forward controls 2. Larger gas tank 3. Corbin or Mustang seat If I can get 100,000 miles out of this machine it will be money well spent. The S50 (intruder) made an excellent donor bike that met all the specifications I had for a 2-up tourer when I first started looking and as a plus it's a pretty nimble hotrod to boot! | Sounds like you had a blast! I look forward to the time when my wife and I can tour on individual bikes. For now it's 2 up. Enjoy your Nflnd. trip. Beautiful place with a much slower pace.
