very easy, shouldn't take more than 20-30 min assuming you don't do what i did the first attempt:

1) unscrew the bar end completely and have the nut and rubber piece drop inside the handlebar on both sides (think i would've learned after screwing up on one end, but NOOOOOO haha).

2) snap the new bolt on which the left guard mounts that goes through the clutch lever on the left side.

I had to order a new bar end nut, and two of those rubber handlebar expanders. Local hardware shop had a replacement hex bolt which I just used some washers to take up the empty space, works fine. 3 weeks later, my handguards are on.

do things properly, and it's easy.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping they were something you could just pop on and off when needed. Sounds like they are more of a leave on accesorie though. I had heard somewhere that the V-strom hand guards will actually fit the M50 as well.

Wow, never heard of them fitting the m50 that's a first for me. But honestly i don't think they'd lend themselves well to the style of the m50...heck im not too fond of the look on the v-strom but it's a case of function over form. That being said, they are easily removed in a few minutes, putting them on again takes slightly longer but it's still not difficult. If temps rise up too high this summer ill probably take them off til cooler weather arrives, don't want to have my hands overheating and sweaty lol.

Well I could be wrong about them fitting the M50 but I had read somewhere that they would. I agree, the look wouldn't really be right but if they were a snap to put on and off it would be nice for those cold mornings.
