That's great mileage alright, I average about 45 mpg on the Big Strom.
I get 51 mpg on the SV 650, but the roads I've been riding that on are all pretty twisty, and fun, so I twist the right wrist a lot.

Yea I haven't been really getting in it alot since I have been breaking it in so if you kinda baby it (not exceeding 5500 rpm) then that was the mileage I got. I expect it to drop some now as I have 750 miles on it. Getting the revs up a little higher.

My worst tank so far has been 51.83mpg. Spirited (high speed) riding on a trip. On a mild mannered trip 55mpg is no problem at 70mph. Very pleased with the mileage. Haven't ran my tank empty, haven't paid that close attention to determine actual tank capacity. Will start paying attention. I've refueled a couple times at 240 to 250 miles with the solid black blinking low fuel light which is suppose to mean 1.2 gallons left. When it goes clear and blinks it is suppose to have .8 gallons left. Haven't ran it that low. Will see what I can figure out on mine.

Well I hit the clear blinky light a week ago. It held 4.5 gallons when I did that. But I have been cruising down the road at a spirited 80-90 mph with the flow of traffic and still averaging 47 to 49 mpg. Some dude in a Civic asked me the other day if I wanted to trade gas mileage,, I told him sure if you are willing to give me his A/C unit,, he said no thanks. Guess riding just isn't for everyone.

Thumbs up

OK someone had to do it. Rode good part of the day. Started out with full tank. Mostly 70mph with a few sprints above and beyond. At approx 234 miles solid black last bar with blinking "gas pump". According to owners manual still 1.2 gallons in tank. At approx 264 miles last bar started to blink alternate solid - blank. According to owners manual still .8 gallons in tank. At 306 miles ran out of gas. Took 5.83 gallons to fill my tank back up. 52.48mpg.

Ya gotta like being able to go that far with that big bright light blinking to remind you. The light on me Road King doesn't blink, and is verrrrry small, almost can't see it at all in the bright light of day, and when I do see it, I better be looking for a station, because I only have about 10 miles before the beast stops making noise, and coasts to a stop. But hey, that's all part of the fun of riding a Harley, there suposto leave you stranded on the side of the road.LOL

Were you carrying extra gas with you or did you just get lucky and happen to be at a station?

Missed the gas station by about a quarter mile. Pushed her to the pump. If I would of had a little more hill could have coasted her all the way in. I had my cell phone with me. If it would have been farther would of had my brother in law pick me up with his truck....or bring me some gas.....

You're the first person I've ever heard of that said they were able to get more than 5 gallons in the tank. Ran mine dry at 270 miles on the interstate coming up to an exit that had a station. Coasted in and could only get 4.8 gallons in filling it to the bottom of the neck.

Hmmm, mine is definately a 5.8 gallon tank. When my low fuel light starts flashing (the alternate solid/blank bar) can get 5 gallon in it at that point. Only ran it dry the once and got 5.83 gallons in it. Must of overfilled it .03 gallon.

Don't have the SV650 tank, do you?

You also have to remember gas stations may or may not keep their weights and measures in line. My wife goes to a shop that can sometimes gives her 15 gal into a 14 gallon tank. I know float meters change and all that but my mind is made up, their meter is off.
