They're roughly the same, just different seats? Same frame and all. I'd be just as happy with the 650. It has way more power than the M50. That being said, why the eff am I drawn like a moth to a flame with the damn 109????? Stopped by the local H-D Saturday. I was looking for a Ulysses. Can't seem to find any of the mother effers anywhere. Oh well....the Strom does the same thing for a huge savings no matter which displacement you go with. Amazing how magazine photography makes bikes look huge. Plus my gripe of hiring jockeys and professional GP riders that average about 5'4"-5'7" for brochure photos.......Again, I sat on the Night Rod. God almighty is that thing small!!! Nothing I sat on fit right. Except the Road Glide. That bike has got a cool profile for a bagger, but I ain't ready for a Geezer Glide yet (sorry blackie!!! Between you and Quack getting Stroms....I think lexter did too, and all the glowing reviews...It's making me want to forget cruiserdom for a while. After all the Strom was my first choice, until I saw a pic of the M50. I'm not sure if I misread some quotes from Suzuki, but aren't they due for another cruiser this year? I thought it was two a year for the next few years? I know 2007 is a definite for two new cruisers to be rolled out. No info yet on them. As much as I'm in love with the ergos of the 109, there is just something about that rear tire holding me back. I just don't see it being practical for me.

Kelly got behind a 109R yesterday and he said "Man that is a sweet looking Victory Hammer,,then he said the guy turned the corner and he said what the heck. Then he noticed the front headlight,,,it was the 109R. From the rear the 109 looks almost identical to the hammer. I thought about the 109R but then I thought why do I need another huge cruiser,, I wanna play,, plus the savings on gas this summer will be cool too. So after going to Wolf's site and lurking around several other sites the past week, and finally plopping my tail on the Wee this weekend I was sold. I can hardly wait to take it around some of the twisties around here and play,,after I break it in and get the tires scuffed good of course.

Appreciate the answers to my questions guys! Yeah, my Honda is a blast to ride. The grips are mounted slightly higher than the other supersports, making it more comfortable. However, I still have to employ the "left hand on hip technique" after about 45 minutes of riding. The Strom seems much more comfortable. I am seriously considering replacing the M50 with the Strom when I get to the islands. The Honda will be the daily rider while the Strom will be the "island hopper." My goal is to ride all of Hawaii's inhabited islands, especially the big island. I believe the Strom will be the perfect platform for this adventure.

Hahaha! That's funny Tim! I'm just hoping to ride the Strom on the boat on the way to the next island.

+1!!!!! Rode the Wee Sunday and logged 230 miles on it. I have just about 325 miles on it thus far. If it wasn't for the fact of it being in the low 40's this morning I would've rode it as well today. Looking forward to logging more mile on the bike. It revs pretty easily. Kept it running between 4500 and 5500 rpm all day trying to keep up with the 1400's and 1500's I was running with,,and the couple of 800's as well. Will be no problem once I get it broke it good. Seems to run pretty smooth. Alot quieter than the LC,, you can hear the sewing machine sounds it makes. I think you will like it Don if you got one.

Well I went to the Yamaha dealer last night to get tickets to the Supercross races this weekend and they had a VStrom 650 with 1771 miles on it there. It looked to be in perfect condition. I was able to take it for a ride and honestly I have mixed feelings. First it is light and peppy I liked the more upright position but I had trouble finding the rear brake. It honestly did not seem as quick to turn as the M95 does it also didn't seem as solid in the turns, that may be due to the weight difference. Seat height was good and it was easy enough to get used to. Another thing that bothered me was that there seemed to be more weight on my hands and after a short time my palms were hurting. The windscreen was fine at highway speeds and it runs fast, I was doing 100 before I knew it. I also had to get used to the difference in rpm range and the cruising rpms. On take offs from lights it seemed a little jerky. While doing some quick take offs on a back road I was able to get the front wheel off the ground not far but I wasn't trying to wheelie it either. Some of these issues I know would go away with more riding time the others would have to be dealt with the biggest being the pain in the hands.

I asked because I wondered about the comfort factor. I thought if you were taller on that bike, it wouldn't put pressure in your hands because of the upright position.
