Default Fuel control question

On the Gas valve on my katana, the on/off/prime/settings are painted over so I cannot read them, can anyone with a 98-2003 katana tell me where each setting goes, for example I believe the arrow down is on, there are 4 settings. UP, DOWN, LEFT AND RIGHT. Thanks

Why did you specify up to 2003 models? Do the 04 and 05 models not have the fuel switch on them?

On my 01, Prime is to the rear, down is on, and Reserve is to the front. There's only three positions.

What is the Prime position. I am BRAND new to Katanas. The one I bought is a 96 and as you could imagine it came with no manuals.

Thanks!

I bought mine used a few months ago... I guess the guy I bought mine from lost his too. What do people do with these things? I believe it's for priming the carbs, like maybe when you run out of gas?

Did a search and found this:

On most modern bikes, it's not a seperate tank but a drain set lower than the regular one, saving you some small amount of fuel for emergencies.
