Default Dead Horse?

I just bought a used 1990 Suzuki Katana 750.
In the sales-add the guy was talking about having some carb issues and eventually installing carbs from a GSXR which now have to be jetted because they are flooding the engine.
(He included the original carb parts with the bike.)
After reading all of the carb/fuel posts on this forum I have noticed that this is a very common issue for these bikes and I am beginning to think this guy had similar issues and made some "very interesting" attempts to fix the problem but eventually just gave up.
I also would like to take a stab at fixing the carb/fuel issue on my own before taking it to a professional and I hope with some of the information on this forum I can figure it out.
However.. Although I found lots of posts on the carb/fuel issue with a lot of great solutions/ideas.. I have yet to find one where someone tried something that worked and posted their "successful" results.

Did any of these bikes get fixed?
Or did they all get sold to suckers like me?

And finally: I pledge to post the final results of my repair attempts. (even if the result is me selling the bike to another sucker)
