I wonder who their target market was. This is a chopper with a suspension so some cruiser guys might have been interested IMO, and maybe still are. I'd guess that bike will hit reserve at less than 100 miles.

It certainly isn't meant for the twisties.

Still, I guess I like the looks.

I think we need to get together and get into the business of making aftermarket gas tanks.

and publish a newsletter "who has the most/least comfortable seat, who has the most/least comfortable ergonomics."

Anybody who builds a bigger bike and doesn't take into consideration that it needs to go at least a buck fifty on the road between fill ups, well they are snorting something.

But then again, I guess those glass tabletops come in handy.

I'd say, ditch the V-twin band wagon thing. (Sorry V-twin people. Clearly there are an ocean of y'all out there)
This thing is 633lbs with a single front disc. Judging by the steering/handling setup, it's gonna need brakes to save the life of the rider.
If Honda really wanted to stir things up, why not an RC211V or CBR1000rr based motor in a powercruiser?
They should look at what's happening at Zuke with the Bking and Yamaha with the VMax, not to mention the big Kawi Connie.
Honda messed up on this one.
The times, they are a' changin', but Honda isn't.
Stickin' by them tho. Maybe, oh maybe...there's a 1600cc V4Magna or Sabre
'round the corner.
But right now, that 1250 Bandit is lookin' mighty nice to me.

clearly exposing my ignorance - but does the twin disc configuration make that big a difference, for those of us not on the track?

you can only brake so hard till the tire locks up... depends on the weight of you and the bike

The advantage to the dual disks is for better modulation and less fade after repeated hard braking. In a panic situation, it is usually easier to keep the dual set up from locking up and on the edge of threshold breaking.

So, for a chopper that would rarely be ridden for more than a few minutes at a time, then I guess, no. One would be ok. (In my opinion.)

A few minutes at a time <chuckle> I like that. But I guess I would agree, a chopper not being a performance bike would probably do Ok with the brake setup the Fury has. On the other hand would you want to ride down a steep mountain with these brakes, not having the heat dissipation of dual disks.

So, once again, don't look to me for any answers.

I was about to write that I doubt many chopper ridders will ride through the mountains. Just not the best tool for the job at hand. BUT, the last time I was in the mountains on my bike, I got behind a group of about 30 plus choppers (OCC, West Coast Choppers, and the like). They were going so slow. It was agony. They would almost come to a dead stop (it seemed like) to make the switch backs and still most of them would drag parts. I wanted to cry in the tunnels because they were so loud and then half of them would pull in the clutch and rev the motors as they passed through them. I kept hoping that they would stop or get off the parkway. They didn't. I eventualy pulled over at an outlook and chilled out for a while because I didn't want to work my way through their formation.

I ride with a group that does that when we go under bridges etc. At first I thought how childish that was, but I admit, I finally had to try it myself. Ok, it was fun the first one or two times, but I should mention that the stock pipes are going back on this summer. A guy my age needs to keep whatever hearing he has left.

I would have followed them for 2 minutes.

Then I would have made a u turn, followed 20 minutes later by another u turn.

I just chilled out at an overlook for about 45 minutes. I got talking bikes with a couple of BMW riders that were there. I stopped for about 10 minutes once, but I caught back up with them in what seemed like 5 minutes.

funny how that happens.

It's like you need the ability to nap on demand.

I sat on this thing over the weekend. Very comfortable. Nice in-person. I will actually consider it now.

but the tank is too small; and from what I saw firsthand at the bike show (when it came around) the tank could easily be 1 gallon larger and just barely take away from the looks.

but then again, I have always kind of looked longingly at the st/1100/1300 motorcycle.

6 gallon tank, get on the freeway and turn off the freeway "when you feel like it" vs

get on the road, get into the groove of driving on the freeway and then.......

oh snap, outta gas, almost.
